These five models are useful starting points for different needs: an all-round premium laptop, a more affordable everyday option, a gaming machine, a 2-in-1 convertible, and a creator laptop. The recommendations come from Laptop Mag’s 2025 tested roundup—not a new 2026 comparison—so check the exact model year, configuration, local price, and availability before buying.
Five AMD laptop picks by use
Laptop Mag’s 2025 roundup selected six models across several categories. The five below retain its overall, budget, gaming, convertible, and creator categories; this is a category-based shortlist, not a ranking of the five against one another. Laptop Mag’s reviewed configurations and impressions are not guarantees about every configuration sold under the same model name.

| Use | Pick | What the 2025 source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Premium all-round use | ASUS Zenbook S 16 (UM5606) | The cited configuration has a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, Radeon 890M integrated graphics, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB storage, and a 16-inch 120 Hz 2880 × 1800 OLED touchscreen. Laptop Mag praised its display, performance, graphics, and battery life, while noting keyboard and touchpad shortcomings and a slow SSD. |
| Everyday use on a tighter budget | ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED | Laptop Mag named it its budget pick. Its 2025 article described it as a sub-$1,000 option at that time; that historical price is not a current quote. |
| Gaming | Razer Blade 14 (Early 2024) | Laptop Mag named it its high-end gaming pick in the 2025 roundup. The roundup’s category label does not establish the specifications or price of every available listing. |
| Touchscreen flexibility | HP Envy x360 2-in-1 | Laptop Mag included it as its convertible pick. Check the specific listing for processor, screen, memory, and storage details. |
| Photo and video creation | ASUS ProArt P16 | Laptop Mag’s recommendation pairs an AMD Ryzen processor with a discrete Nvidia RTX 4070. The source identifies this as a creator pick, not a guarantee that every ProArt P16 configuration has that GPU. |
Which pick suits your workload?
For a premium everyday laptop: Zenbook S 16
The cited UM5606 configuration combines a high-resolution OLED display with integrated Radeon 890M graphics and substantial listed memory and storage. It is the most fully specified pick in this shortlist, but the review’s praise came with practical reservations: keyboard and touchpad shortcomings, plus a slow SSD. Those details matter if you type for long stretches or regularly move large files. Verify that a listing is the UM5606 configuration described above rather than assuming every Zenbook S 16 has the same parts.
For general use at a lower price: Zenbook 14 OLED
This is the shortlist’s budget-category choice, but the available evidence does not establish a current price, current configuration, or a direct performance comparison with the other four models. Compare the exact processor, RAM, SSD capacity, display, warranty, and local price on the listing you are considering. Do not treat the 2025 sub-$1,000 description as a current offer.

- Web vision Including Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access
For gaming: Razer Blade 14
The Early 2024 Blade 14 was Laptop Mag’s high-end gaming pick in its 2025 guide. For gaming, the GPU and cooling design are at least as important as the Ryzen name. Laptop Mag advises buyers who want higher-resolution gaming or higher settings to seek a laptop with a discrete GPU. Check the precise GPU in the regional SKU, as well as the screen resolution and refresh rate; the roundup excerpt does not specify those details for this pick.
For flexible laptop-and-tablet use: HP Envy x360 2-in-1
A convertible makes sense when touch input and a folding hinge are useful for note-taking, presenting, or casual media use. The category designation alone does not establish the specifications of a particular Envy x360 listing. Confirm its screen size and panel, processor, RAM, storage, and whether the included configuration meets your needs.

For photo and video work: ASUS ProArt P16
Laptop Mag’s creator recommendation uses an AMD Ryzen processor alongside a discrete Nvidia RTX 4070. That pairing is a more relevant starting point for graphics-intensive creative workloads than the processor family name alone. Before buying, confirm the GPU and memory in the exact SKU and check the software you use for its hardware requirements. The available source does not establish that every P16 configuration matches the reviewed recommendation.

How to compare AMD laptops before buying
Start with the workload and graphics
- Office, browsing, and video calls: prioritize a suitable screen, comfortable keyboard, enough memory and storage, and portability. A discrete graphics card may not be necessary.
- Gaming or GPU-heavy creative work: identify the discrete GPU in the exact configuration, then compare it with the games or applications you use. An AMD processor does not mean the laptop uses AMD graphics; the ProArt P16 example combines Ryzen with an Nvidia GPU.
- Integrated graphics: can be appropriate for everyday tasks, but it is not a substitute for checking game-specific performance needs. Laptop Mag recommends a discrete GPU for buyers targeting higher resolutions or settings.
Match the processor and the rest of the configuration
A Ryzen family or tier label is not a complete performance specification. AMD notes that laptop manufacturers can vary system configurations and results. Compare the exact processor model, graphics hardware, memory, and storage on the specific listing rather than comparing laptops by “Ryzen” branding alone. AMD’s January 2026 buying guidance also advises choosing according to your needs instead of relying only on the processor tier number.

Check the display and physical design
Compare screen size, resolution, refresh rate, panel type, and touch support. The Zenbook S 16 example shows why specifications and review trade-offs belong together: its cited configuration has a 120 Hz high-resolution OLED touchscreen, while the review also reported keyboard and touchpad shortcomings. Consider weight and dimensions alongside display size if you will carry the laptop frequently.
Verify memory, storage, and upgrade options
Confirm the listed RAM and SSD capacity for the exact SKU. The cited sources do not establish upgradeability for every model, so consult the manufacturer’s specifications or support information for the precise configuration before assuming memory or storage can be replaced later.

Check local price, warranty, and availability
Prices and configurations vary by region and retailer. AMD’s partner portfolio page, published June 26, 2026, says availability varies by market and that its list is not exhaustive. Compare current local listings and warranty terms rather than relying on historical prices or assuming a model is sold everywhere.
What AMD’s newer laptop platform information does—and does not—tell you
AMD’s March 2, 2026 announcement describes an expanded Ryzen AI 400 mobile portfolio and plans for OEM notebooks and workstations. AMD states that Ryzen AI 400 Series processors provide up to 50 TOPS of NPU compute. That is a manufacturer claim about the processor series, not an independent measurement of one of the laptops above or a guarantee of a particular AI application’s performance.

The announcement’s detailed specification table is for desktop processors; those desktop CPU specifications should not be applied to laptop models. For a laptop purchase, use the exact mobile processor and system specifications shown for the particular SKU. AMD also notes that manufacturer configurations can vary, so its platform information does not establish a universal winner among these five laptops.
Quick Recap
A practical checklist for the listing you are considering
- Match the full model name and model year, not just the product family.
- Confirm the exact Ryzen processor and whether graphics are integrated or discrete; for a discrete GPU, verify its model.
- Check screen size, resolution, refresh rate, OLED or other panel type, and touch support.
- Confirm installed memory and SSD capacity, then verify whether either is upgradeable for that exact SKU.
- Compare the laptop’s size and weight with how often you will carry it.
- Check the current local price, warranty, and availability before ordering.
