AgentRisk’s stated change adds a categorical confidence value—high or low—alongside its risk score. In this design, low confidence means a key input could not be verified, not that the token is necessarily malicious or that the score has a measured probability of being wrong.
Why add confidence beside a risk score?
A single score can look definitive even when the service lacked information needed to support its assessment. That is particularly important for a pre-trade API whose result may be consumed by a bot: an autonomous caller could act on a number without a person noticing that a check was incomplete.

AgentRisk describes checks for Base tokens that include honeypot status, deployer-wallet freshness, brand impersonation, and a direct on-chain cross-check of liquidity-pool lock status. Its stated rationale for adding confidence is to make evidence availability visible rather than silently filling gaps. [Neurobyteio / AgentRisk M2M]
What AgentRisk’s confidence field means
The reported field has two categorical values: high and low. The article says low confidence is returned when a key input could not be verified, with the deployer address and liquidity-pool lock status as examples. In other words, the field describes whether important evidence was available to the service for its assessment.
#1 Best Overall
The available article text does not define a confidence-generation algorithm, threshold, numerical probability, calibration method, or performance result. Therefore, high should not be read as a validated probability that the verdict is correct, and low should not be treated as proof that the token is unsafe.
Keep risk, confidence, and freshness distinct
- Risk score: the service’s assessment of the token or a detected condition.
- Confidence or evidence status: how well the available evidence supports that assessment, if that is what the implementation actually measures.
- Cache status and timestamp: when the result was produced or served, helping the caller judge whether it may be stale.
These signals answer different questions. Amazon Bedrock’s safety-filter documentation explicitly distinguishes severity from certainty: severity describes the content, not the model’s certainty about its classification. Its sensitive-information filters use a separate confidence score for certainty that a selected PII entity is present. [Amazon Bedrock Guardrails]

Google Cloud likewise separates probability from severity; a low probability can coexist with high severity, and vice versa. That distinction matters in token screening too: a serious potential consequence and uncertainty about whether the evidence supports a finding should not be collapsed into one number. How a bot should handle a low-confidence result
A low value is a warning about evidence completeness, not an automatic verdict on the token. The caller should interpret it using an explicit policy rather than assuming that low means either “reject” or “safe.” For consequential automated actions, the confidence label should be considered alongside independent checks, policy rules, and input validation—not used as the sole safety gate.

A useful API contract should explain in plain language what each value measures, which inputs can be missing, and what the value does not claim. AWS guidance on agentic systems similarly cautions against relying on an agent’s own self-confidence to gate high-risk actions; independent anomaly detection, policy checks, and input-validation warnings provide additional safeguards. Cache metadata matters before signing
AgentRisk’s article says repeat scans made within 30 seconds may be returned from cache. It also says responses include a cached boolean and timestamp, allowing a caller to consider whether a possibly stale safe result is acceptable before signing a transaction. The 30-second interval is a behavior reported in an article dated August 29, with no year shown in the retrieved excerpt; it is not independently verified as the service’s current setting. Freshness is not confidence. A cached result may have had complete evidence when produced but be outdated now; a fresh result may still have missing evidence. The article does not provide cache invalidation details, chain-finality rules, or the exact response schema, so callers should not infer those behaviors from the presence of the flag and timestamp.

What the change says about the API—and what it does not
The design is useful because it exposes an important distinction that a risk score alone can hide. The author’s stated principle is “No guessing, no silent gap-filling.” However, the available article text does not establish how confidence is computed or validated, what its thresholds are, or whether high-confidence results are more accurate in measured testing. Treat the field as an evidence-availability disclosure unless the API documentation defines and supports a stronger interpretation.
