Photography is a puzzle-solving tool in TOEM, not just a way to save scenic images. When a character gives you a task, start with its wording and look for a subject or detail that could satisfy it. Use the camera to examine the scene and take pictures; the official Nintendo description specifically connects photos with solving puzzles and helping people.

TOEM is listed for Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. Nintendo’s listing identifies the Switch release as digital, while Steam lists TOEM: A Photo Adventure. Both identify Something We Made as the developer; the Steam listing also names popagenda as a publisher. The listed release date is September 17, 2021. Nintendo’s TOEM listing and the Steam store page are the primary places to check current platform and availability details.
Tips for completing photo challenges
- Read the request closely. Treat the character’s task wording as your checklist; identify the requested subject and any stated presentation requirement before taking the picture.
- Check presentation details when a challenge asks for them. One walkthrough for a Stanhamn challenge documents a frame and/or filter requirement. That is a specific example, not a rule for every photo challenge. See the Stanhamn walkthrough for that context.
- Use guides to narrow the search, then verify in-game. Community guides cover regional quests, animals, tasks, challenges, achievements, and the Basto update. Their coverage can help when you are stuck, but guide titles alone do not establish that every instruction is current or exhaustive.

If you want to uncover content without spoiling everything, explore each area thoroughly, revisit locations as new tasks point you toward them, and use a guide’s relevant regional section only when you need a lead. Treat exact locations in community guides as tips to check against your current game rather than an authoritative master list.
Playing TOEM on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo lists the Switch edition as digital, with a file size of 523 MB, one-player support, and TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes. Its listing says Switch 2 compatibility is supported with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch, while noting that compatibility and play experience may differ on Switch Lite. Store metadata can change, so check Nintendo’s live listing for current details. The camera used for challenges is an in-game mechanic; no external camera or photography accessory is needed.
