Windows 11 has a fun personalization feature people miss because Microsoft doesn’t always surface it in Settings. When enabled, Desktop Stickers place little decorative elements on your desktop—more visual flair than productivity.
If you can’t find the toggle on your build, you’re not alone. The most reliable approach is to check your current availability first, then use ViVeTool to turn on the hidden feature for your specific Windows 11 version.

What you need before enabling Desktop Stickers
Before you touch anything, confirm you’re on Windows 11 and that you can install and run small utilities. Desktop Stickers availability can vary by edition, build, and region, so the first step is always verifying what your system already supports.
Recommended prerequisites:
- Windows 11 PC (check Settings → System → About).
- Admin access to run repair commands and modify feature flags.
- ViVeTool (the common community tool for enabling hidden Windows features).
- Backup (optional but smart). At minimum, create a restore point.
Suggested quick backup step:
- Press Windows + S, type Create a restore point, open it.
- Click Create…, name it (example: Before Desktop Stickers), then create.
Check whether Desktop Stickers are already available
Some Windows 11 builds expose Desktop Stickers directly. If you see the toggle, you can skip the hidden-feature route.

Try this first:
- Open Settings (press Windows + I).
- Go to Personalization.
- Look for options related to Desktop, Stickers, or Themes. The exact placement changes between builds.
If you can’t find anything labeled Desktop Stickers, proceed to ViVeTool.
Enable Desktop Stickers with ViVeTool (works when the toggle is missing)
ViVeTool helps flip underlying feature flags that Microsoft may hide from the UI. The key is using the correct feature ID for your Windows 11 build—IDs aren’t always the same across builds.
Download and run ViVeTool safely
Community distributions of ViVeTool exist, so verify you downloaded from a reputable source. When you run it, use an elevated command prompt.

- Run the tool from that folder (example):
cd C:\ViVeTool.
If the tool ships with documentation, prefer its help output. You can usually see commands with vivetool.exe /help.
Find the correct feature ID for your Windows 11 build
Instead of guessing IDs, search within ViVeTool for anything that relates to stickers or desktop visuals. This avoids enabling the wrong flag.
Typical workflow:
- Identify your Windows 11 build: Settings → System → About → look for Version and OS build (for example, 23H2 with build 22631.x).
- In ViVeTool, use its feature discovery/search function (the exact command can vary by ViVeTool version).
- Search for keywords like stickers, desktop, or similar strings.
What to watch for: ViVeTool usually lists features with an ID and status. You’re looking for the feature that corresponds to Desktop Stickers, not a generic personalization component.
Enable the feature and restart
Once you have the correct feature ID, enable it using ViVeTool’s enable command, then reboot to apply the change.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Common pattern (adapt to the exact ViVeTool command syntax you have):
- Run something like:
vivetool.exe /enable /id:<FEATURE_ID> - Reboot: restart the PC fully (don’t just log off).
If you enabled features and nothing changes, don’t keep stacking random IDs. Re-check you found the right one for your build, then try again after reboot.
Where to find the stickers after enabling
After restart, look again in Settings → Personalization for a Desktop Stickers-related toggle. If the toggle still doesn’t show, check for the sticker activation inside the desktop personalization layer that your build uses (often adjacent to themes or desktop effects).

Alternative: verify related components and permissions
Sometimes the feature flag is enabled, but supporting components aren’t. This is more common on systems that are partially customized, heavily managed, or behind older updates.
Confirm you’re on a supported Windows 11 edition/build
Desktop personalization features can behave differently between Home, Pro, and enterprise-managed builds. If your PC is part of a work or school device, group policy can hide or block UI features.
- If you’re on an enterprise PC, check with your admin if personalization features are restricted.
- If you’re on a dev/test build, expect UI naming and feature IDs to drift.
Make sure the system is updated
Try updating to the latest cumulative updates for your Windows 11 version. Feature flags often assume specific components are present.
- Open Settings → Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- Install everything pending and reboot.
Restart Explorer and sign out/in (if needed)
If the toggle shows up inconsistently, a shell refresh can fix it.

- If still missing, sign out and back in, or restart again.
Troubleshooting when Desktop Stickers won’t show up
If ViVeTool doesn’t produce a visible Desktop Stickers UI, treat it like any other feature-flag problem: confirm the ID, confirm the prerequisites, and confirm the shell can render the UI.
ViVeTool enabled the wrong feature ID
This is the most common failure. Feature IDs can look similar, and stickers-related items may exist for different desktop personalization layers.
- Re-run ViVeTool’s search on your build.
- Only enable the ID that explicitly maps to Desktop Stickers.
- After changes, always fully restart.
Feature is blocked by OS components or policy
On managed devices, UI options can be suppressed. If you’re using a work/school account and the feature never appears even after enabling, that may be policy.
Quick checks:
- Try with a local admin account (if allowed).
- Check for any “personalization” restrictions from your organization.
Stickers UI fails to load
Sometimes the toggle appears but stickers don’t render. Reloading Explorer helps, and clearing corrupted caches can help too.

Corrupted system files
If Windows components are damaged, the new UI elements may fail. Use the standard DISM + SFC repair cycle.

Try the cleanest fix: re-enable and reboot
If you tried multiple IDs, return to a clean state. Disable anything you enabled incorrectly (if ViVeTool supports disable by ID), then reboot and enable only the correct stickers feature.
When the UI finally appears, you can test by toggling it and waiting 10–30 seconds for the desktop shell to populate.

- Skipping a full reboot. Many feature flags only apply after restart.
- Enabling without confirming your build. IDs can differ between 22H2 and 23H2 and between cumulative updates.
- Using multiple random IDs. This makes troubleshooting harder and can create UI oddities.
- Expecting the toggle to match every screenshot online. Microsoft changes Settings structure frequently.
Desktop Stickers vs related Windows 11 visuals
Desktop Stickers are easy to confuse with other Windows 11 personalization features. Here’s how they differ in practice.
Desktop Stickers vs Widgets
Widgets live in the Widgets panel and are managed by the Widgets feed. Desktop Stickers are surface-level desktop decorations tied to the desktop shell.
Desktop Stickers vs Sticky Notes
Sticky Notes are independent note widgets (and in many setups they sync with account data). Desktop Stickers are decorative elements placed on the desktop and don’t function like a note-taking app.
FAQs
Is it safe to use ViVeTool on Windows 11?
It can be safe if you’re careful: use an admin prompt, enable only the feature you intend, and reboot between changes. Still, it’s not an official Microsoft workflow, so keep a restore point in place.
Why do I see the desktop stickers toggle but nothing appears?
Try restarting Windows Explorer, then reboot. If it still doesn’t render, your build may be missing dependent components—run Windows Update and consider DISM + SFC repair.
Recommended Free Tools
Will this work on Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2?
It can, but you must use the correct feature ID for your specific build. A feature that exists in one build may not be present—or may use different IDs—in another.
Can Microsoft remove Desktop Stickers later?
Yes. Hidden features can change between updates. If an update removes or changes the backing components, the toggle may disappear or stop working.
Bottom Line
To enable hidden Desktop Stickers in Windows 11, start with a quick Settings check—some builds expose the toggle. If you can’t find it, use ViVeTool to enable the correct stickers-related feature ID for your exact Windows 11 build, then reboot and reload Explorer.
Do it methodically (restore point, verify build, enable one feature at a time). That approach minimizes surprises and gets you to visible stickers faster.
