One documented option is MinuteDock: it syncs Wave customers, lets you record time against them, and can send invoices based on tracked work to Wave as drafts for review.
Does Wave have time tracking?
Wave’s Help Center lists time tracking among the services available through its partner ecosystem, but that listing does not establish a native time-tracking feature inside Wave. Wave’s separate integration guide explains how to connect partner apps. Wave Connect, by contrast, is a spreadsheet data tool, not the time-tracking workflow described here; see Wave’s Wave Connect instructions.

How do I track time for Wave invoices?
MinuteDock documents a workflow that connects time entries to Wave customer records, then transfers invoice drafts to Wave. The draft step matters: you review and send the invoice from Wave rather than having tracked time automatically emailed to a client.

1. Check access and subscription eligibility
MinuteDock’s setup instructions require permission to manage the MinuteDock account and its users, as well as Wave admin access to authorize the connection. Wave’s integration help page says that, as of May 26, 2025, partner integrations and Make connections require a Pro Plan or a Wave Advisors bookkeeping subscription. MinuteDock also says its Wave integration requires a paid Wave subscription. Check Wave’s current integration requirements and your account’s plan before connecting; plan rules and offers can change.

In Wave, open the account’s Integrations area, select the business profile, and allow MinuteDock access. MinuteDock’s setup guide describes authorization and the account permissions involved.
3. Let customer records sync, then track time
MinuteDock says Wave customers sync into its system as contacts, which you can use to record time against clients. According to its setup guide dated May 25, 2026, newly added Wave customers sync automatically every 24 hours. MinuteDock describes a one-Wave-account-at-a-time connection, and changes made to contacts in MinuteDock do not update Wave customer records. See the MinuteDock setup documentation for the sync details.

4. Create an invoice draft and review it in Wave
MinuteDock says tracked work can be used to create invoices and send them to Wave as drafts. Open the resulting draft in Wave, check the customer and invoice details, and send it from Wave when it is ready. The documented flow is a software-to-software integration; it does not replace the final invoice review and send step. Details are in the MinuteDock + Wave overview.
What does MinuteDock cost for Wave time tracking?
MinuteDock’s Wave page advertises a 14-day free trial, a starting price of $19 USD per month, and 50% off for three months. Wave’s integration page also mentions a three-month 50% MinuteDock discount. These are vendor offers, not guaranteed current terms: verify eligibility, pricing, and availability on the MinuteDock Wave page and Wave integration page before signing up.

When this workflow is a fit
- Use it if you need to track client work outside Wave and want customer records connected to the invoicing workflow.
- Plan for a manual review and send step in Wave, because MinuteDock sends invoice drafts rather than automatically delivering invoices to clients.
- Confirm your Wave account qualifies for partner integrations and that the one-account connection matches your setup.
- Consider another workflow if you need time tracking wholly inside Wave; the reviewed Wave materials do not document a native client time tracker.
