Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →As of October 4, 2026, Thunderbird for iOS is still in development, so there are no verified public instructions for changing notification, privacy, or sync settings in a released iPhone or iPad app. Mozilla says it will announce the app when it is ready for users; the project repository says it is not yet functional or ready for production use.
Can you change Thunderbird for iOS settings now?
Not through a documented, production-ready iOS app. Mozilla’s Thunderbird FAQ, last updated June 23, 2026, answers “Is Thunderbird available for IOS or iPhone?” by saying: “Thunderbird for iOS development (for iPhone and iPad) is in progress! When it is ready for users there will be a public announcement.” The Thunderbird Blog’s October 1, 2026 first look likewise describes a native app in development, with work focused on core foundations.

The official Thunderbird for iOS repository says the project is “Not yet functional or ready for production use.” It describes a TestFlight version as a goal for early testing, with a full App Store release later; it does not announce a release date. The public iOS roadmap, last updated July 23, 2026, lists IMAP and a first user release among current priorities. A roadmap priority is not a confirmed feature list or launch commitment.

A July 2026 Thunderbird mobile progress report said the iOS team had heard that notification setup and “push” (IMAP Idle) notifications were difficult. The team was discussing ways to consolidate some settings and make others easier to find, and planned to work the following month on enabling push notifications by default for new accounts that support them. That was a plan reported in July, not confirmation that it shipped or a procedure users can follow in October.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
The report also notes that push depends in part on whether the email account’s provider supports it. It does not establish that every provider will deliver push notifications, or document an iOS control for choosing notification behavior.
Are privacy controls documented?
The available official materials do not establish privacy controls or their location in a released Thunderbird iOS app. Mozilla’s Thunderbird privacy and security support resources cover topics such as remote message content, passwords, and encryption, but they do not verify that desktop controls or menu paths exist on iOS. Avoid applying desktop Thunderbird instructions to an iPhone or iPad app that is still in development.

What does “sync” mean for Thunderbird on iOS?
The iOS roadmap identifies IMAP as a development priority, but the sources do not document an end-user iOS sync-settings menu, which data categories it would control, or whether app preferences would sync across devices. Mail synchronization through a protocol such as IMAP is not the same thing as syncing app configuration. The project repository describes core architecture and backend integration as development work, not as a finished user-facing settings workflow.

Use Mozilla’s Thunderbird FAQ and official iOS project pages for current availability and documentation. Until Mozilla announces that the app is ready for users and publishes platform-specific guidance, there is no substantiated settings path to follow for notifications, privacy, or sync. Do not substitute instructions for Thunderbird desktop, Thunderbird for Android, or Firefox for iOS; they describe different products or platforms.
