BougeRV’s DuneRover is a motor-assisted wagon that can also follow your commands by remote control. The remote is the silly part. The useful part is that motors do much of the hauling, and a reviewer who tried a Kickstarter prototype found that worthwhile for moving gear. The review also found limits, and the unit tested was not a production model.
What the DuneRover is, and what has been tested
The only hands-on account available is a reviewer’s assessment of a Kickstarter prototype. It was reported by The Verge and syndicated by KhanList on October 6, 2026. Everything below about performance is one person’s experience with that prototype. It is not independent validation, and it does not prove that production units will behave the same way.

The reviewer said production units were expected to ship in February 2027. That is a planned date, not a confirmed shipment. Final price, specifications, warranty terms and retail availability were not established in the material reviewed.

Why a remote-controlled wagon is actually useful
The remote control adds novelty, but the appeal is practical. A wagon that carries its own load shortens the slog of moving beach, camping or tailgating gear. The reviewer used it to move gear out of a beach house, making six trips over a route that mixed several surfaces and slopes.

Where the prototype struggled
Soft sand with a heavy load
The same heavy load that worked on firmer ground was too much for the motors in soft sand. The larger beach wheels did better with loads about half as heavy. Powered assistance does not remove effort, and a wagon’s maximum load will not necessarily be usable on every surface.
Jerky motor behavior on slopes
After repeated stops and starts on slopes, the reviewer noticed occasional jerky motor behavior. Treat that as an observation about this prototype, not guaranteed behavior.

Drag when the motor is off
With the motor off, the prototype showed intermittent rolling resistance. After rolling several feet, the motor-connected wheels would drag briefly and then release. The reviewer said BougeRV told them production wagons would not do this. That is a manufacturer assurance relayed secondhand, not verified production testing.

Cargo configurations and keeping loads secure
The sides can be unzipped and folded flat for oversized cargo. They can also be unzipped with the straps left connected, which creates more cargo volume. Either way, the open sides leave loads less contained. The reviewer recommends bungee cords or a cargo net to hold everything in place.
The source does not say that any net or cords are included, and it does not name a compatible model. If you buy one, check the net’s dimensions against the wagon’s open footprint. Also check that the wagon has attachment points where you can hook it.

How to compare it with other powered wagons
LITEFAR’s Orion and its H1 announcement are examples of other remote-controlled electric wagons. Their specifications are manufacturer claims. They cannot be set directly against the DuneRover prototype’s reviewer-observed results unless the test methods match. When comparing any powered wagon, check these points:

Should you back or buy one?
The DuneRover looks useful for hard and moderately firm surfaces, and it may suit soft sand if you carry lighter loads and use the larger wheels. Crowdfunded hardware carries risk: the reviewer’s account describes a prototype, and the February 2027 date could slip. Wait for production-unit reviews that confirm the drag issue is fixed, the battery is weather-protected, and the final price and warranty are clear.
