The remaster is due October 29, 2026, with updated lighting, character models and environments, while Telltale says it has preserved the original story and art direction.
Why is Telltale remastering The Wolf Among Us?
In an interview with Nintendo Everything published October 2, 2026, Saia said the project serves both purposes: honoring the studio’s history and introducing the game to a fresh audience, while bringing existing fans back to Fabletown ahead of the sequel. Telltale described the goal as honoring its legacy and refreshing the original for both new players and returning ones.

Telltale has announced The Wolf Among Us 2 for 2027. The sequel is set five months after the first game, according to the studio’s announcement. The remaster is intended as a lead-in, but Telltale has not said that playing it is required to follow the sequel.
What does the remaster change?
Saia says the visual work expanded beyond the team’s initial plans. Every scene was relit, character models were redone, animations retouched, and environments and object textures received substantial attention. Some city scenes also have added street details and pedestrians.
#1 Best Overall
- Episodic Game - All 5 Episodes Included
- Based on Fables (DC Comics/Vertigo), an award-winning comic book series by Bill Willingham.
- Play as Bigby Wolf: formerly the most feared monster among the Fables, now Sheriff of Fabletown and protector of those he used to hunt. He must restrain the beast within if he is to earn the trust of those around him.
- The characters of myth, lore and legend are real, and exist in our world. Your choices matter and will change and define the story you experience.
- Episodic Game - All 5 Episodes Included
Saia described each character model as having “five to six times the detail of the original game.” That is the game director’s description, not a published independent technical measurement. The available information does not provide resolution or frame-rate comparisons with the original.
A PlayStation Blog interview describes moving the old engine up to the latest engine used in the Batman series, alongside new shaders and relit scenes. Nintendo Everything’s interview discusses work in the original Telltale Tool and its custom renderer. The accounts use different language, and Telltale has not explained the technical relationship; there is no basis here to claim a specific engine version or an Unreal Engine rebuild.

Does it change the story or art direction?
Telltale says it left the story, directorial choices and overall art style intact. The stated aim was to elevate the original designs without making familiar characters unrecognizable. Saia’s approach is to refresh presentation rather than redesign characters or put them in new outfits.
The interview also describes small new interactions and Easter eggs, which the team says were added without disrupting the core storyline. Telltale’s official game page lists five complete episodes, updated presentation, accessibility improvements and new supplemental material.

What are Noir Mode and the bonus features?
Noir Mode
Noir Mode presents the full game in black and white and can be toggled during play, according to Telltale. Saia described it as a “pure noir film vibe,” with darker-feeling shadows; the standard presentation retains its colors.
Supplemental content
Telltale says the remaster includes more than an hour of bonus content, including behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries and deleted scenes. The game page also lists developer commentary, concept art, restored content and archival material.
