Steam’s recommended tier raises that to 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 XT, or Arc B580. These are baseline requirement rows, not a promise of a particular frame rate; higher resolution and ray tracing call for more capable hardware. Steam’s current listing is the relevant reference for this edition.
What are The Witcher 3 PC requirements?
The table below covers the Remastered edition, not the original 2015 PC release. Steam currently lists the following minimum and recommended configurations. CPU and GPU models separated by a slash are alternatives in the same tier; they indicate the listed class, not identical performance in every game or scene.

How to choose hardware for your target
The minimum and recommended rows are useful starting points, but they do not specify every graphics preset or rendering feature. Decide what you want to run before buying: resolution, frame-rate target, and whether you intend to use ray tracing or path tracing all affect the required graphics tier.
#1 Best Overall
- Play as a highly trained monster slayer for hire.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
- Resolution and frame rate: Higher resolutions and higher frame-rate goals put more demand on the graphics card. A card that meets the recommended row is not thereby guaranteed to deliver a particular frame rate at every setting.
- Rendering mode: Ray tracing and path tracing need more graphics capability than the basic minimum tier. Do not assume the minimum row is suitable for those modes.
- Upscaling and frame generation: Some higher-end targets assume these features. A target that uses them is not directly equivalent to native rendering at the same resolution and frame rate.
- Whole-system fit: Check GPU class and VRAM, CPU, RAM, operating system, and SSD capacity. Upgrading storage alone will not make a system meet the processor or graphics requirements.
Higher settings: what the expanded targets say
A secondary transcription of a more detailed requirements table lists six targets, from 1080p low through 4K path tracing. Its figures are hardware targets, not independently measured benchmarks or guarantees for every scene. Because the developer’s requirements graphic is presented as an image, these expanded rows should be treated as a secondary transcription rather than as a directly readable Steam table.
| Target in the transcription | What to know |
|---|---|
| Minimum, 1080p low | Listed as the entry target; the transcription does not provide a complete comparable component row in the available text. |
| High, 1080p/60 | A separate target above minimum; listed hardware details are not stated in the available transcription. |
| Ultra, 1440p/60 | A higher-resolution target; listed hardware details are not stated in the available transcription. |
| Ray tracing, 1080p/30 | Target assumes upscaling; listed hardware details are not stated in the available transcription. |
| Ray-tracing Ultra, 1440p/60 | Target assumes DLSS or FSR; listed hardware details are not stated in the available transcription. |
| Path tracing, 4K/60 | Target assumes upscaling and frame generation; the transcription names an RTX 5080 and Core i9-13900K or Ryzen 7 9800X3D. |
The expanded target names and assumptions come from a secondary transcription. Its path-tracing entry is a notably higher tier than Steam’s recommended row; do not treat Steam’s recommended hardware as a path-tracing recommendation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the Remastered requirements differ from the old table
The Remastered release adds native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading, ray-traced local shadows, path tracing, DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, FSR 4, and XeSS 2.0. CD PROJEKT RED said the system requirements changed with the improvements in its September 28, 2026 announcement, which scheduled release for September 29. The announcement describes the new features; Steam supplies the current readable minimum and recommended rows.

The developer’s January 2015 requirements page applies to the earlier game. It listed a minimum Core i5-2500K or Phenom II X4 940, GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870, 6 GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows 8 (8.1), DirectX 11, and 40 GB storage. Its recommended row listed an i7-3770 or FX-8350, GTX 770 or Radeon R9 290, 8 GB RAM, and 40 GB storage. Those historical figures are not a valid buying baseline for Remastered.
