For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, CD PROJEKT RED lists an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB of VRAM, an Intel Core i9-13900K or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 24 GB of RAM, and a 60 GB SSD for its Path Tracing target: 4K (2160p) at 60 FPS with DLSS and Frame Generation enabled. That is a high-end target for Path Tracing, not the minimum PC needed to play the game.
What are The Witcher 3 Path Tracing PC requirements?
The following tiers are CD PROJEKT RED’s 2026 requirements for the Remastered PC release, reproduced by PC Gamer from the developer’s updated requirements page. They are published performance targets, not independent benchmark results or guarantees for every PC. The developer says actual performance can vary with the scene, gameplay, system configuration, graphics settings, and output resolution.

Which tier should you use to judge your PC?
Start with the experience you want, rather than treating the most demanding row as a general game requirement. The published table includes non-ray-traced tiers at 1080p and 1440p, separate ray-tracing tiers, and the 4K Path Tracing target. The RTX 5080 recommendation applies specifically to the last of these.
Recommended Free Tools
- For a baseline 1080p target: the Minimum row targets 30 FPS on Low settings; the Recommended row targets 60 FPS on High settings.
- For higher resolution without the Path Tracing target: the Ultra row targets 1440p at 60 FPS on Ultra settings.
- For ray tracing: compare your hardware with the RT Minimum or RT Recommended row, which specify their own resolutions, frame rates, and upscaling options.
- For Path Tracing: use the RTX 5080-class row only if your goal is the listed 4K/60 FPS target with DLSS and Frame Generation.
What does the Path Tracing target assume?
CD PROJEKT RED’s table says the Path Tracing measurements use upscaling and Frame Generation. It does not identify the exact DLSS quality mode or Frame Generation multiplier for that row, so those details should not be inferred from the published target. The RT Minimum and RT Recommended rows specify DLSS, FSR, or XeSS set to Auto; other configurations used native resolution, according to the table notes reported by PC Gamer. Resolution has a significant effect on frame rate.
#1 Best Overall
- Play as a highly trained monster slayer for hire.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
For a useful comparison with your own PC, check four things together: intended output resolution and frame rate, effects tier (standard rendering, ray tracing, or Path Tracing), upscaling and Frame Generation configuration, and the fit of your GPU and VRAM, CPU, RAM, and storage. Matching one listed component alone does not establish that your system will reach the target.
Do you need Path Tracing to play Remastered?
No. Path Tracing is the most demanding tier in the published table, while the same table lists lower targets, including 1080p Low at 30 FPS and 1080p High at 60 FPS. The RTX 5080 is therefore not the general minimum requirement for playing Remastered.
Does Remastered require an SSD or Windows 11?
The requirements table lists a 60 GB SSD for every tier. CD PROJEKT RED says an SSD is now required to support the game’s technical improvements, citing faster load times and smoother asset streaming. The developer also says Windows 10 is no longer officially supported: the game may still run on it, but it is no longer developed or tested for that operating system, and future compatibility or performance is not guaranteed. Consult the current official requirements page for the latest OS guidance.

Which version of The Witcher 3 do these requirements cover?
These specifications apply to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED says owners of a previous physical or digital version can upgrade free within the same platform ecosystem. Its Remastered announcement describes PC support for Path Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4 with Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2, and Intel XeSS 2.0 with Frame Generation and Low Latency. It states that FSR 4 is supported on Radeon RX 7000 Series and newer; unsupported GPUs use FSR 2 instead. The announcement also identifies Ray-Traced HairWorks.
Rank #3
- Italian edition.
Do not substitute older system requirements for these figures. The December 2022 version 4.0 update added ray-traced global illumination and ambient occlusion, with ray-traced reflections and shadows available to PC players with compatible hardware, and added DLSS 3 support for compatible hardware. Those changes are documented in the version 4.0 notes; patch 4.01 later added a PC performance mode for ray-traced global illumination. The version 4.04 notes record historical fixes involving ray tracing and DLSS Frame Generation, not the Remastered requirements.
