More than 450 Witcher 3 mods were newly released or updated in the first two days after the Remastered update launched on PC, according to PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon. That is an early sign of how quickly modders have responded—not a guarantee that all 450 work with the new version.
What the 450-mod count does—and doesn’t—tell you
Fenlon’s October 1, 2026 report counted more than 450 mods newly released or updated since the PC launch on September 29, using activity on Nexus Mods. It is an author-reported snapshot, not an official CD PROJEKT RED statistic or a compatibility test. A mod appearing in that count may still need an update or may not work as intended.
Examples named in the report include The Witcher 3 Mod Manager, Fast Travel From Anywhere, Boat Races, No time for Gwent, Complete Animations Redux, Sort Everything, AutoLoot Advanced Settings, HUD Scaling Fix (All Aspect Ratios), Enhanced Camera, Hoods, New Clouds and Increased Creature Loot. Treat these as examples of community activity, not a verified list of compatible mods. PC Gamer’s October 1 report has the count and examples.
Why some older mods may not work
CD PROJEKT RED says mods containing XML files, script files or w3strings did not work when the update launched. The company says REDkit includes a way to update these mods, but that does not mean every older mod has already been adapted. Check the mod’s own page and version notes for explicit support for the Remastered build. CD PROJEKT RED’s mod support guide explains the affected file types and update process.

REDkit’s changelog lists tools relevant to mod development, including fine-grained XML overrides, new DLC mounters and changes intended to make Gwent mods and new cards easier to create. Those are capabilities for creators, not a promise that every mod can be ported or will be available on consoles. The REDkit changelog describes the tool changes.
How to check and install a mod in-game
- Open The Witcher 3’s Mods menu and sign in to your CD PROJEKT RED account.
- Link the account to mod.io when prompted, then subscribe to the mod you want.
- Restart the game if requested. Open the Mods menu’s Installed section to confirm the mod is installed and enabled.
Subscriptions sync through the linked account, but the game ignores mods unsupported on a particular platform. For console use, look for the mod’s Available on consoles tag. Script mods must be created through REDkit; the support guide notes that textures, bundles and similar content may be made using other methods.

What console players and cross-progression users should check
Cross-progression with mods depends on having the same set enabled on both platforms. If a mod is missing or incompatible on the device where you load the save, the save may not load correctly. Before switching platforms, compare the enabled mod sets and confirm each mod is available on the target platform.
On consoles, modded save files disable achievements and trophies. This is a per-save consequence to consider before enabling mods if you are pursuing platform achievements. The update is live, and eligible owners get it free
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launched September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a free upgrade for eligible owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is also available for purchase on Battle.net and Microsoft Store; eligible owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can claim it for Nintendo Switch 2. Check the platform-specific eligibility details in the official launch announcement.
The update also includes enhanced visuals and performance, PC path tracing, PS5 Pro support, an overhauled skill system and animations, improved combat and a refreshed interface. Existing saves remain compatible, but the skill-system overhaul resets skills. CD PROJEKT RED says reverting to an earlier game version is possible depending on platform; consult its version-revert instructions for your platform.
