What happened at the October 3 hearing?
Delhi Special Judge Prashant Kumar adjourned the formal charge-framing proceeding in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case until October 30, 2026. The judge asked the ED to seek instructions in light of an order made by the predecessor court. The report does not give further detail about those instructions or explain the adjournment beyond that direction.
The adjournment is not a dismissal or acquittal. Formal framing of the ED’s money-laundering charges did not take place at this hearing.
How many people are still facing charge framing in the ED case?
The ED had named 16 accused. On September 10, the predecessor court discharged seven and ordered charges to be framed against the remaining nine. The October 3 hearing had been set for formal framing against those nine; the named defendants in the current report are Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav and six others.

The report does not reproduce the September 10 order or specify the exact statutory charges against each person. An order to frame charges is a pre-trial step, not a finding of guilt.
How is the ED case different from the CBI case?
These are separate proceedings, brought by different agencies and concerning different alleged offences. The ED matter concerns money laundering. A separate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case concerns alleged corruption; the report says corruption charges were framed against Lalu Yadav and 11 others in that case in October 2025.

The October 3 adjournment applies to the ED proceeding. The report does not say the CBI case was postponed or otherwise changed that day.
What does the ED allege about the hotel tenders and land?
According to the ED, tenders to operate IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri were manipulated to favour Sujata Hotels. The agency alleges that Sujata Hotels directors Vinay and Vijay Kochhar then transferred Patna land to Delight Marketing Company Pvt. Ltd. at undervalued rates. It further alleges that shares in that company were later transferred to Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav, and that the company was subsequently renamed Lara Projects.

These are allegations attributed to the ED, not established findings of guilt in this update. The report also says the predecessor court’s September 10 order described strong suspicion against those facing charges and rejected the defence argument that the investigation indicated political vendetta. That was the court’s characterization at the charge-framing stage, not a conviction.
