The stated 6 GB VRAM is a separate GPU-memory requirement; it is not the same as the 12 GB of system RAM. The announcement also says an SSD is required for support and HDDs will no longer be supported.

Can I run The Witcher 3 on my PC?
Compare your system against the exact models and capacities in the table, then confirm which game version you intend to run. A similar-sounding GPU family or processor generation is not enough to establish that it meets the named minimum. The studio says its hardware selection for minimum requirements allowed it to target 60 FPS; its updated requirements page specifically says a GTX 1660 can reach 60 FPS or higher at Minimum settings. That is a target for that card and preset, not a guarantee for every scene or PC.

CD PROJEKT RED says frame rates can fluctuate with scene and gameplay, vary by system configuration and graphics settings, and are significantly affected by output resolution. Its stated FPS targets are based on the studio’s QA tests. Higher output resolution can therefore change the result even when the PC meets the component requirements. What changes with DirectX 12 and hardware support?
The announcement says the game will run exclusively using DirectX 12. It also ties support to components that continue to receive relevant updates from their manufacturers. A PC that launches the game today should not be assumed to remain within the studio’s supported configuration after the update, particularly if it relies on Windows 10 or hardware no longer receiving official support.

How to check your game version and requirements
- Check the installed version. Use the game’s properties or version information in your storefront to identify whether you have the upcoming updated branch or an earlier version.
- Compare the hardware individually. Verify CPU model, GPU model, VRAM, system RAM, and available SSD storage against the announced minimums; also confirm 64-bit Windows 11 and DirectX 12 support.
- Confirm storefront options. CD PROJEKT RED says earlier versions may be selectable depending on platform: version 1.32 is identified as Classic, and version 4.04 may be selected after Remastered is released. Check your own storefront for current availability and instructions.
- Match expectations to the settings you want. Minimum requirements do not establish that a PC will handle ray tracing, path tracing, or another higher tier. Check the official chart for those configurations and account for your output resolution.
