To connect Samsung Galaxy Buds, put the earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode, then select them from the Bluetooth settings of your phone, tablet or Windows laptop. The gesture or case action that triggers pairing mode depends on your exact Buds model. On a Galaxy phone or tablet running One UI 8.0 or later, a QuickPair pop-up may appear and handle most of the setup for you.
Check these before you start
- Confirm your exact model. Samsung’s instructions differ between Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, Buds Pro, Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Buds4 and Buds4 Pro. Look at the model name on the case or in the Galaxy Wearable app before following any gesture.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone, tablet or laptop you want to pair with.
- Check your software. Galaxy devices on One UI 8.0 or later use the QuickPair flow described below. Older software uses the manual Bluetooth route.
- No new earbuds are needed if you already own compatible Galaxy Buds. The steps below only involve the earbuds you have and the device you are connecting them to.
Put the earbuds into pairing mode
A Bluetooth device that is not in pairing mode will not be detected by your phone or laptop, so this step always comes first. Samsung’s support pages describe different controls by model:

| Model | Pairing-mode instruction | Samsung source |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro | Wear both earbuds, then press and hold the touchpad area on both at the same time for more than three seconds. A sound indicates Bluetooth pairing mode. | Samsung US troubleshooting article on Bluetooth connection problems |
| Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro | Open the charging case with both earbuds inside. The status indicator flashes blue, red and green, which Samsung describes as the pairing indication. | Samsung Hong Kong guide to connecting Galaxy Buds to a laptop, last updated May 13, 2026 |
| Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and Buds Pro | Wear both earbuds, then touch and hold both touchpads for more than three seconds until a sound indicates pairing mode. | Samsung Hong Kong guide to connecting Galaxy Buds to a laptop, last updated May 13, 2026 |
The Hong Kong instructions are written for that region, and Samsung notes that steps can vary by location and by the region where the product was bought. If your earbuds do not respond the way the table describes, check the Samsung support page for your country or the printed manual that came with the product.
Pair with a Galaxy phone or tablet

Samsung’s UK guide to connecting Bluetooth earbuds, updated June 13, 2022, describes the general flow. Menu names can differ with the Android version and the device software, so treat these paths as a starting point rather than an exact match for your screen.

When the Buds will not appear or reconnect
The earbuds do not show up in the device list
Start by repeating the pairing-mode step for your exact model, since a device outside pairing mode will not be detected. Samsung’s US troubleshooting article identifies these possible causes when a Galaxy device cannot connect to Buds:
Rank #4
- BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY: Features Bluetooth 5.4 technology for stable, high-quality wireless audio streaming and seamless device pairing
- NOISE CANCELLATION: Active Noise Cancellation technology helps block out unwanted ambient sounds for immersive listening
- BATTERY LIFE: Extended playback time of up to 35 hours of continuous music playback for all-day entertainment

- The earbuds were not in the correct pairing mode.
- An earlier connection history is causing an error.
- The phone, tablet or laptop software is out of date.
- The Bluetooth configuration on the device needs to be checked.
No single fix covers every case, so work through these causes one at a time.

For a Bluetooth device that worked before but no longer connects, Samsung recommends removing the saved connection and pairing again from the beginning.

Auto switch after setup
Auto switch is a convenience feature that is separate from first-time pairing. Samsung’s India guide, last updated May 28, 2026, says the Samsung devices involved must be signed in to the same Samsung account, and the Buds must have connected to each of those devices at least once. Samsung also cautions that the feature may not work with non-Samsung devices or with devices not signed in to the same Samsung account. If Auto switch is not available, pair your earbuds with each device manually instead.
