The $29 Amazon price was a real historical Cyber Monday deal, reported on December 2, 2024—not a live offer in August 2026. Roku’s official product page lists the Streaming Stick 4K at $49.99 as of August 2026, so treat the old price as a useful benchmark, not a checkout price.
What was the $29 Roku deal?
Android Headlines reported on December 2, 2024, that Amazon had cut the Roku Streaming Stick 4K from a stated regular price of $49.99 to $29 for Cyber Monday. That was a $20 reduction, or about 40% off the article’s stated regular price. The report establishes what the deal coverage said at the time; it does not establish that Amazon still offers the same price.
There is a date oddity: the article’s URL places it in a “Black Friday Deals 2023” category, although the page gives a December 2, 2024 publication date. The dated article identifies the retailer as Amazon and the promotion as Cyber Monday. Read the original deal report.
Is the $29 price still available?
No current $29 Amazon offer is verified here. Roku’s official product page displayed $49.99 against $79.99 in August 2026, with a limited-time-offer notice, while-supplies-last terms, and a three-per-customer limit. That is Roku’s own listing, not evidence of Amazon’s current price; promotions and stock can change. The two reference prices also come from different contexts: the 2024 deal article cited $49.99 as the regular price, while Roku’s page displayed $79.99 as its comparison price in August 2026.

- Power: USB-powered. Roku lists a USB power cable, power adapter, remote, and two pre-installed AAA batteries in the box.
These are device capabilities, not a promise that every title or television will use every format. Roku’s specifications and current offer are on its official product page.
What you need for 4K and HDR
The stick can serve an HDMI-equipped TV, but the picture quality depends on the whole setup. For 4K/HDR playback, the TV’s HDMI port needs HDCP 2.2 support; 4K output also requires a 4K display. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ need a compatible TV and a title available in that format. A 1080p television will display HD rather than 4K.

- Seamless streaming for any room: With Roku Streaming Stick 4K, watch your favorite entertainment on any TV in the house, even in rooms farther from your router thanks to the long-range Wi-Fi receiver.

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
- Use reliable Wi-Fi near the TV. Roku recommends 25 Mbps for 4K streaming; this is Roku’s recommendation, not a universal minimum.
- Check that the streaming service offers the program in 4K or HDR. Some 4K titles may require a higher-tier subscription or a separate purchase.
- Use the included power adapter if the TV’s USB port does not supply stable power. An HDMI connection alone does not power the stick.
- Expect performance to depend on router placement, network congestion, and other household traffic as well as your broadband plan.
When the Streaming Stick 4K makes sense
At the reported $29 price, it was an appealing low-cost way to refresh a sluggish older 4K TV, add Roku’s interface to a guest room, or put a compact streamer in a dorm. The Dolby Vision support, voice search, long-range Wi-Fi, and TV controls on the remote add useful convenience when the screen and network can take advantage of them.
Roku promotes access to more than 500 free TV channels, but that refers to Roku’s free-content offering—not every premium streaming service or local broadcast station. The device itself does not make Netflix, Disney+, Max, Hulu, live-TV services, or other paid programming free; those can require separate subscriptions or payments. Roku also notes that app availability varies by country.

When to skip it or compare alternatives
- You already have a recent, responsive smart TV or streaming device: A second player may add little unless you specifically want Roku’s interface or apps.
- Your TV is 1080p: The Stick 4K will not turn it into a 4K display. Roku’s page showed its HD-only Streaming Stick at $29.99 against $39.99 in August 2026, while the 4K-capable Streaming Stick Plus was shown at $39.99 against $59.99. Roku’s comparison lists HDR, but not Dolby Vision, for the Plus. These are Roku display prices, not guaranteed checkout prices.
- You need Ethernet, advanced audio features, gaming performance, local channels, or DVR: The stick alone is not a full cable replacement and may not meet those needs; compare devices and services that specifically provide them.
- The offer is near $49.99: That is substantially above the historical $29 deal. Compare Roku’s current models and other streaming platforms rather than treating it as the same bargain.
- The listing is used, renewed, or from an unfamiliar marketplace seller: Confirm condition, exact model, seller, and return terms before paying. The linked Amazon destination does not establish the current offer or seller.
