The best T-Mobile-network MVNO depends on how you use your phone: Mint Mobile is a strong value pick if you can pay ahead, Tello suits light users who want to customize a plan, Metro by T-Mobile is worth comparing for multiple lines, Google Fi stands out for international features, and US Mobile offers network and plan flexibility. Before switching, check coverage where you live and travel, then compare the current plan terms—not just the advertised monthly price.

Mint Mobile: value if you can pay in advance
Mint is a good fit for people willing to buy service in bulk rather than pay month to month. Mint says its lower prices are tied to buying multiple months upfront, so look at the amount due and the renewal terms as well as the monthly equivalent. Its page lists hotspot and Wi-Fi calling with every plan. Mint explains its pricing and service structure; its coverage and performance descriptions are the company’s own claims, not independent measurements.

Tello is a practical option if you want to choose talk and data amounts rather than buy a larger bundle than you need. Android Central’s reviewed comparison gives a $10 low-data example and a $25 unlimited-plan example; the latter is described as including 50GB of high-speed data and 10GB of hotspot data. These are examples from the comparison, not guaranteed current offers. Check Android Central’s Tello comparison and Tello’s live terms before choosing.

Metro by T-Mobile: compare it for a household
Metro is the option to investigate when more than one person needs service. Android Central highlights multi-line discounts and extras, but the headline per-line price is not enough to judge the deal. Confirm which plans and lines qualify, what extras are included, and the total household bill under the current offer.
Google Fi Wireless: international features
Google Fi is a candidate for travelers who value international calling and service features. Android Central describes high-speed data and calls to more than 200 destinations on higher plans; that benefit should not be assumed to apply to every Fi plan or destination. WhistleOut lists Fi Unlimited Plus at $65 per month in its accessed 2026 guide. Check the current plan’s country list, data terms, and restrictions for your itinerary.

US Mobile: flexibility and network choice
US Mobile may suit people who want to compare plan options or choose among underlying networks. Its service spans multiple major networks, including T-Mobile, according to the cited comparisons, so the brand name alone does not tell you which network a particular line will use. Confirm the exact plan and network before comparing it with a T-Mobile-network-only option.

| Provider | Example entry price | Example top price | Important context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mint Mobile | $15/month | $30/month | Mint ties lower pricing to buying service in bulk; confirm the advance payment and renewal structure. |
| Tello | not stated in US Mobile’s August 2026 table | $25/month | Android Central’s comparison separately describes a $25 unlimited example with 50GB high-speed data and a 10GB hotspot allowance. |
| Google Fi | $20/month | $65/month | International features vary by plan; check the specific plan and destinations. |
| Metro by T-Mobile | $40/month | $65/month | Check current multi-line eligibility and household total. |
| US Mobile | $8/month | $44/month | The comparison says the provider spans three major networks; verify the network for the plan you select. |
These prices come from US Mobile’s August 2026 plan comparison. That comparison notes that postpaid carrier headline prices may exclude taxes and fees, while most prepaid carriers include them. For a meaningful comparison, match taxes and fees, number of lines, autopay requirements, introductory periods, renewal prices, and how often payment is collected. Mint’s monthly equivalent, in particular, should not be mistaken for a monthly payment if the term requires buying several months upfront.
How to choose the right plan
- Check local coverage first. Look up your home, workplace, and regular travel routes on the provider’s current coverage map. A network affiliation does not establish that service will work equally well everywhere, and the reviewed comparisons do not establish identical roaming access, data priority, or performance between an MVNO plan and T-Mobile postpaid. Consider a trial if the provider currently offers one.
- Compare what you will pay, not just the monthly label. Work out the amount due at signup and at renewal. Separate recurring rates from introductory offers, and include taxes, fees, autopay conditions, line count, and any bulk-payment requirement.
- Match data and speed terms to your use. “Unlimited” does not mean every plan has the same high-speed data allowance or the same treatment after a threshold. Read the current plan terms rather than comparing labels alone.
- Check hotspot separately. If you use a laptop or tablet through your phone, compare the included hotspot allowance and any speed limits. Do not assume a plan’s phone data allowance is also its hotspot allowance.
- Evaluate household and travel needs. For multiple lines, total the bill and verify offer eligibility. For international trips, confirm the included countries, data speeds, calling, and roaming entitlements on the exact plan.
- Confirm which network your plan uses. This matters especially with providers such as US Mobile that offer multiple underlying networks or plan variants. Select the network that fits your coverage needs rather than relying on the provider name alone.
What the coverage claims do—and do not—tell you
Mint says it runs on T-Mobile’s network. Its own page also claims that 98% of Americans get 5G and 99% get 4G LTE; those are Mint’s coverage statements, not independently verified measurements. A nationwide percentage cannot tell you whether signal reaches your home, office, or route, so check the current map for the places you need service.

The cited comparisons do not provide a complete, authoritative plan-by-plan table of data priority or deprioritization. That means they do not support a categorical claim that a particular MVNO will always be as fast as—or slower than—T-Mobile postpaid. If performance at busy locations matters, use any available trial and check the provider’s specific terms before porting your number.
