For eccentric action, start with No More Heroes; for a story-led adventure, start with The Silver Case. If you want an action-adventure with horror imagery and a remastered edition listed for current platforms, consider Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. These are recommendations based on each game’s premise and official descriptions—not a universal ranking of quality.
What Grasshopper Manufacture game should I play first?
Choose by the kind of game you want, rather than looking for one definitive entry point. Grasshopper Manufacture’s catalog spans action and narrative adventure, and the available official descriptions do not establish a universal best game for newcomers.

| Game | Best starting point for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| No More Heroes | Eccentric action and a clear series beginning | Introduces Travis Touchdown’s climb through the assassin rankings. Grasshopper calls it the series’ genesis; Marvelous describes combat, side jobs, training, and exploration. Check which edition and platform are available in your region. |
| The Silver Case | Story-led adventure and unconventional presentation | Grasshopper describes two perspectives, Transmitter and Placebo, which can be played separately or alternated. It is a narrative-focused pick, not a sample of the studio’s action games. |
| Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered | Action-adventure with horror imagery | A remastered edition of the 2011 action-adventure. Grasshopper lists PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam; the catalog names NetEase Entertainment Interactive as publisher. Confirm your platform, region, and edition before buying. |
| The Silver Case 2425 | A combined story-adventure option | Grasshopper’s catalog says it includes both The Silver Case and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. Listed platforms and dates are territory- and version-specific. |
| No More Heroes III | A later return to Travis Touchdown | Marvelous describes Travis’s return and the Galactic Superhero Rankings. As the third numbered entry, it is a less straightforward first stop than the original. |
Which Grasshopper game is best for beginners?
Choose No More Heroes for the studio’s assassin-action premise
If you want action and a defined series starting point, No More Heroes is the clearest recommendation. Travis Touchdown climbs the assassin rankings, and the official Marvelous description highlights combat alongside side jobs, training, and exploration. Grasshopper itself calls the game “the genesis of the No More Heroes series.” Grasshopper’s No More Heroes page and Marvelous’s game page describe the premise and features.
The original Grasshopper catalog entry lists the Wii release, while Marvelous has a separate game page. Neither should be treated as a guarantee that a particular edition is currently available on every platform. Check the listing for your region and the specific version you intend to play.
#1 Best Overall
- Earn money to enter ranked battles! To enter into each subsequent ranked battle, you’ll need to pay a pretty steep fee. Travis must take on various missions around town to make the money he needs to fight
- Use your skills to dominate opponents! Enjoy even more hardcore slash-‘em-up action than ever before as you use the Joy-Con’s intuitive controls to wield Travis Touchdown’s trusty Beam Katana along with a slew of pro wrestling techniques!
- Also, featured for the first time in the series, Travis can now use his Death Glove to activate a variety of skills, allowing for more strategic battles
Choose The Silver Case for a story-first introduction
The Silver Case offers a markedly different route into the catalog. Its official description centers on the Transmitter and Placebo perspectives, which can be played separately or alternated. Grasshopper calls it “the first title by Grasshopper Manufacture.” If unusual storytelling and presentation appeal more than action, this is the better fit. See Grasshopper’s The Silver Case catalog page.
If you would rather get both connected titles in one release, Grasshopper says The Silver Case 2425 includes The Silver Case and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. Check the catalog’s territory- and version-specific platform information before purchase.

Choose Hella Remastered for a current-platform action-adventure listing
Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is the option here for action-adventure with horror imagery. Grasshopper describes the original as a 2011 “road movie action-adventure game” and lists the remaster for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam. Those are catalog listings, not a claim about availability in every store or region, and they do not establish how the game performs on any platform. Check the official Hella Remastered listing and the specific store edition before buying.

- Want action and a series beginning? Start with No More Heroes.
- Prefer narrative and distinctive presentation? Start with The Silver Case, or check whether The Silver Case 2425 fits your platform and preference for a combined release.
- Want an action-adventure with a listed remaster? Consider Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, after confirming platform and edition.
- Already know you want more Travis? Treat No More Heroes III as a later series option rather than the most obvious first game.
The cited official descriptions do not establish comparative quality, playtime, difficulty, performance, or how much continuity a newcomer needs. Choose on genre and presentation, and check the edition details relevant to your platform.

Check credits for the specific game and edition
“Grasshopper game” does not mean Grasshopper had the same development or publishing role in every release. The studio’s catalog lists NetEase Entertainment Interactive as publisher for Hella Remastered, while Marvelous presents No More Heroes on its own game page. Credits for a remaster or later version can differ from those for an earlier title.
For example, the official Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP site publishes its own release and update notices. A PC Gamer report dated February 11, 2026 distinguishes Grasshopper’s role on older titles from its reported lack of involvement in making the RePOP remaster. That is a useful reason to verify the credits for the particular game and edition you are considering, rather than assuming every later release associated with a series was made by Grasshopper.
