The Best Gaming TVs We’ve Tested for 2026

RTINGS, Tom’s Guide, and TechRadar favor different gaming TVs. Compare their picks and match refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, VRR, and room conditions to your setup.

There is no single consensus winner among current gaming-TV guides. RTINGS names the Samsung S95H OLED its best gaming TV and the LG C6 OLED 2026 its upper-midrange pick; Tom’s Guide selects the Samsung S90F OLED as its top gaming TV. The right choice depends on your console or PC, room lighting, required screen size, and local price—not just a ranking.

Our gaming TV picks, by use case

These are outlet-specific recommendations, not results from one shared test. Check the exact model, size, and regional version before buying; lineups, availability, and naming can vary.

Flagship pick Samsung S95H OLED RTINGS names it the best gaming TV in its 2026 guide. It reports four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting up to 4K at 165Hz, plus FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR. Confirm the exact size and regional SKU. A 165Hz ceiling matters only if your PC and games can use it.
Upper-midrange pick LG C6 OLED 2026 RTINGS recommends it as an upper-midrange option, citing deep blacks, vibrant color, four HDMI 2.1 ports up to 4K at 165Hz, and support for FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR. RTINGS says reflections can be more troublesome, especially with light facing the screen, and bright HDR highlights are less impactful than on the S95H.
Alternative top pick Samsung S90F OLED Tom’s Guide calls it the best gaming TV in its guide. It lists sizes from 42 to 83 inches, a native 120Hz refresh rate (up to 144Hz), and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Tom’s Guide lists HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, but not Dolby Vision. Its top ranking is that outlet’s assessment, not a consensus.
Lower-cost model to investigate Hisense U65QF Tom’s Guide describes it as a lower-cost gaming TV and lists two HDMI 2.1 ports and a 144Hz refresh rate. Verify the price, local SKU, and test evidence before treating it as a budget winner.
PS5-focused alternative Sony Bravia 8 II TechRadar lists 120Hz, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and PS5-specific Auto HDR Tone Mapping; it also highlights the built-in audio. TechRadar lists 16.3ms input lag and cautions that it is higher than many rivals.

What matters most for gaming

Input lag and motion in Game Mode

Picture quality alone does not determine how responsive a TV feels. Look for testing of input lag in the mode you will use for games, as well as motion clarity. RTINGS describes the S95H as having clear motion and low input lag; TechRadar publishes measured input-lag figures for its recommendations. Results are meaningful only in the context of the test mode and conditions, so avoid treating one figure as a universal response-time guarantee.

Refresh rate and the signal your system can send

Tom’s Guide identifies 4K at 120Hz and variable refresh rate (VRR) as capabilities associated with HDMI 2.1. They are useful only when the console or PC, the game, and the selected TV input support the relevant mode. A TV’s higher refresh ceiling does not make a console output at that rate: for example, the S95H’s reported 4K/165Hz capability is not a benefit to a system limited to a lower output rate.

HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR compatibility

Count the ports that support the bandwidth and features you need, not merely the ports labeled HDMI. The S95H and C6 are reported by RTINGS to have four HDMI 2.1 ports and support FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR. The S90F is listed by Tom’s Guide with four HDMI 2.1 ports; the U65QF with two; and the Bravia 8 II with two. Check the specific model’s documentation and the formats supported by your console or graphics card, especially if you connect multiple high-bandwidth devices.

Room lighting, panel type, and HDR

Room conditions can change which screen is the better fit. RTINGS notes that the C6 is more affected by reflections than the S95H, particularly when light sources face the screen, and that its bright HDR highlights are less emphatic. If your setup is bright or has lamps or windows opposite the TV, factor in reflection handling alongside black levels and color. OLED is not automatically the best match for every room or budget; compare the specific set’s picture, reflections, and price rather than relying on panel type alone.

How to choose for your setup

  1. Start with your hardware. Identify your console or PC, the maximum resolution and refresh rate it can output, and whether it supports the VRR format you want.
  2. Check the connection needs. Count how many devices need high-bandwidth HDMI ports at the same time, including any receiver or sound system in your signal path. Confirm the TV’s supported formats for the exact ports you plan to use.
  3. Match the screen to the room. Consider windows and light sources facing the screen, then weigh reflection handling against the contrast and HDR presentation you prefer.
  4. Choose size and price locally. Compare the exact screen size and regional SKU available where you live. The guides cited here do not establish a current price for every model or market.
  5. Use the right guide for the decision. Treat RTINGS’ S95H and C6 rankings, Tom’s Guide’s S90F and U65QF assessments, and TechRadar’s Bravia 8 II details as separate editorial evaluations with different emphasis.

Why gaming TV rankings differ

“Best” depends on the outlet’s test methodology and the priorities it rewards. RTINGS’ 2026 guide names the S95H its top pick and the C6 its upper-midrange choice; Tom’s Guide gives its top position to the S90F. These rankings should not be combined into a claim that reviewers agree on one winner. The useful comparison is the one that matches your hardware, lighting, port requirements, and local options.
