Anthropic’s own listings point to two different starting points: Frontend Design for generating frontend interfaces in Claude Code, and Design for broader design work in Cowork. Figma, Playwright, and Vercel integrations can support separate stages of a web workflow, but their catalog descriptions do not establish that they improve results or belong in a universal top three.
Which Claude plugins should you use for web design?
Choose by the work you want Claude to do, rather than treating every design-related plugin or integration as a direct substitute. Anthropic lists Frontend Design for Claude Code and Design for Cowork; its catalog also describes Figma, Playwright, and Vercel integrations for distinct workflow needs. These are vendor-stated functions, not independent performance ratings.
| Option | Anthropic’s stated role | Listed environment | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frontend Design | Generate frontend interfaces with attention to visual direction, typography, color, motion, composition, and contextual details. | Claude Code | You want Claude to create frontend code with a deliberate aesthetic direction. |
| Design | Support design critique, design-system management, UX writing, accessibility audits, research synthesis, and developer handoff. | Cowork | You need help reviewing or communicating design work, not only generating an interface. |
| Figma integration | Access design files, extract components, read tokens, and translate designs to code. | Marketplace catalog; confirm the current surface before installing. | Your workflow starts with existing Figma files and needs a design-to-code bridge. |
| Playwright integration | Interact with a browser, capture screenshots, fill forms, and run automated tests. | Marketplace catalog; confirm the current surface before installing. | You need browser validation or end-to-end testing after implementation. |
| Vercel integration | Work with deployment, builds, logs, domains, and frontend infrastructure. | Marketplace catalog; confirm the current surface before installing. | You want deployment operations in the workflow as well as design and coding. |
Frontend Design or Design: what is the difference?
Use Frontend Design to build an interface
Anthropic says Frontend Design activates when you ask Claude to build frontend interfaces. Its listing emphasizes the visual decisions that shape an implementation, including typography, color, motion, and composition. It is the more direct match when the deliverable is a coded web interface in Claude Code. See Anthropic’s Frontend Design listing.
Use Design to work around the interface
Anthropic’s Design listing covers work that can happen before, during, or after implementation: critiquing a mockup, refining checkout microcopy, auditing accessibility, synthesizing user interviews, and preparing a developer handoff. The listing places it in Cowork, not Claude Code. See Anthropic’s Design listing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The names are similar, but the stated scope and environment differ. If your main need is generating frontend code, start with Frontend Design. If your need is critique, writing, accessibility, research synthesis, or handoff, consider Design. The official descriptions do not establish that one is better overall.
Where the Figma, Playwright, and Vercel integrations fit
These integrations address different parts of a web project, so they should not be ranked as though each were a design-generation plugin.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Figma: relevant when you need to bring existing design files, components, or tokens into the implementation workflow.
- Playwright: relevant when you need Claude to interact with a browser, inspect screenshots, fill forms, or support automated testing.
- Vercel: relevant when the work extends into builds, deployment, logs, domains, or frontend infrastructure.
Anthropic’s Marketplace catalog lists these functions. The catalog descriptions alone do not show how well an integration performs on a particular project. Check the current listing and installation surface before relying on it.
How to decide what is essential for your project
“Essential” depends on the job, not a universal ranking. Use the smallest set that covers your actual workflow:

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Identify the deliverable. For a new coded interface, assess Frontend Design. For critique, UX writing, accessibility review, research synthesis, or handoff, assess Design.
- Check where your work begins. If you already have a Figma file and want to transfer its components or tokens, investigate the Figma integration.
- Add validation only if you need it. Playwright is relevant when browser interaction or automated testing is part of the task.
- Add deployment tooling only when the project calls for it. Vercel’s listed role is infrastructure and deployment, not visual design.
- Verify availability and permissions. Confirm your plan, the environment in which the plugin works, and whether it includes local components before installing.
Anthropic’s official materials describe intended functions, but they do not provide a controlled comparison showing which plugins produce better designs, save time, or qualify as the three most valuable. Marketplace visibility or install counts are not evidence of those outcomes.

- Plugins added in Claude web or Desktop are saved to your account. Anthropic says they can be used in web chat, Desktop chat, and Cowork, and can sync to Claude Code when you are signed in with the same Claude account.
- Claude Code plugin sync requires version 2.1.273 or later. It does not apply when Claude Code is signed in with an API key or used through a cloud provider such as Amazon Bedrock.
- Skills and commands work across web chat, Desktop chat, and Cowork. Hooks and sub-agents run in Cowork and Claude Code, not chat.
- A plugin may include a local MCP server. Anthropic says it runs with permissions comparable to other programs on your computer and recommends installing plugins only from trusted sources. Enterprise administrators may restrict catalog options or disable local MCP servers.
- Cowork connectors access external services through Anthropic’s cloud rather than your local network. Custom connector servers must be publicly reachable from Anthropic’s IP ranges.
