The 5 Best Monitors for Mac Studio in 2026

For the strongest all-around Mac Studio match in RTINGS’ 2026 roundup, choose the Apple Studio Display XDR if you want a 5K screen, advanced HDR, and Thunderbolt 5 and are comfortable with its premium price. The LG 27GM950B-B is another 5K mini-LED option; the Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx adds a KVM at 4K; and Dell’s S2725QC and S2725DC trade HDR performance or sharpness for simpler, lower-tier options. The right pick depends on your budget, how important crisp text is, whether you use HDR, and what refresh rate and connections your setup needs.

These are the five monitors in RTINGS’ Mac Studio roundup, not results of independent hands-on testing for this article. Retailer prices and configurations can change, so compare the current listing for the exact model before buying.

Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx 4K mini-LED with KVM 4K mini-LED Less pixel-dense than the 5K LG; more haloing and no SDR local dimming
Dell S2725QC 27-inch 4K for sRGB-oriented use 4K No local dimming, low contrast, and weaker HDR
Dell S2725DC Budget-conscious 1440p with USB-C 1440p Less sharp text than 4K options; no dedicated sRGB mode or HDR support

The roundup does not provide current retailer prices in the information available here, so the tiers are relative rather than dollar comparisons. Resolution and panel features are included only where established; check the listing for the exact configuration you are considering.

1. Apple Studio Display XDR: best premium pick

RTINGS names the Apple Studio Display XDR its best monitor for Mac Studio. It is the most complete match in this list if your priorities include dense 5K text, HDR, broad color support, and a high-bandwidth Apple connection. Apple’s 2026 specifications describe a 27-inch 5120 × 2880 Retina XDR display at 218 pixels per inch, with a mini-LED backlight divided into 2,304 dimming zones. Apple rates it for up to 1,000 nits SDR brightness and 2,000 nits peak HDR brightness, and lists a 120Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync. See Apple’s technical specifications.

#1 Best Overall
Apple Studio Display: Standard Glass, Tilt-Adjustable Stand
  • A SIGHT TO BE BOLD — An immersive 27-inch 5K Retina display, 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, advanced mics and speakers, and Thunderbolt 5 ports.* Studio Display is the perfect partner for Mac.
  • WITH FLYING COLORS — 14.7 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, support for 1 billion colors, and P3 wide color make everything spring to life with spectacular detail.
  • ADVANCED CAMERA AND AUDIO — The 12MP Center Stage camera helps you look sharp in any light and keeps you in frame during video calls. Desk View lets you share your workspace. And a studio-quality three-mic array ensures you come through clearly.
  • SIX-SPEAKER SOUND WITH SPATIAL AUDIO — Four force-cancelling woofers produce bold bass, and two high-performance tweeters deliver accurate mids and crisp highs. And Spatial Audio creates a sophisticated, cinematic soundstage in supported music, video, and games.
  • SUPERPOWER YOUR STUDIO — Two Thunderbolt 5 ports let you connect high-speed accessories, daisy-chain up to four displays, and even fast-charge Mac laptops. And two USB-C ports are perfect for USB peripherals or charging your iPhone.

Apple also lists two Thunderbolt 5 ports and two USB-C ports. Its announcement describes a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, and DICOM medical imaging presets. Those features make the XDR especially compelling for demanding HDR or color-focused work, but they do not make it the right spend for every desk. RTINGS flags its high price and reports some haloing around bright objects against dark scenes. Apple announced a $3,299 starting price on March 3, 2026; that is a launch price, not a claim about today’s street price.

Check Mac compatibility before expecting 120Hz

Apple’s compatibility information says Studio Display XDR works with Mac Studio (2022 and later) when used with Apple silicon and macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 or later. Apple specifies that Mac models with M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2, and M3 support XDR at up to 60Hz, with other features supported. Do not assume 120Hz from the display’s specification alone: check Apple’s current compatibility documentation for your exact Mac and software version before purchase. Apple’s announcement also describes Adaptive Sync from 47Hz to 120Hz, but host compatibility still matters. See the Apple announcement and specifications.

Rank #2
Apple Studio Display: Nano-Texture Glass, Tilt-Adjustable Stand
  • A SIGHT TO BE BOLD — An immersive 27-inch 5K Retina display, 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, advanced mics and speakers, and Thunderbolt 5 ports.* Studio Display is the perfect partner for Mac.
  • WITH FLYING COLORS — 14.7 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, support for 1 billion colors, and P3 wide color make everything spring to life with spectacular detail.

2. LG 27GM950B-B: a 5K mini-LED alternative

The LG is the alternative to consider if you want a 5K mini-LED panel and a matte surface, with higher refresh and better reflection handling than the Apple display according to RTINGS. That surface may be preferable in a bright room or when reflections distract you.

The trade-offs are connectivity and sustained brightness: RTINGS says the LG lacks Thunderbolt 5 and daisy chaining, and that it cannot sustain high brightness indefinitely. If your desk setup relies on a Thunderbolt chain or you need consistent peak brightness, those differences matter more than a headline resolution or refresh rate. The roundup does not establish a current price here, so compare live listings rather than inferring a savings from its position in the lineup.

  • Ultra-thin bezel: Designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic and an ash white finish, this display features ultra-thin bezels for a refined, minimalist design.

3. Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx: 4K mini-LED with KVM

Choose the Acer if a built-in KVM is useful: RTINGS says it can share peripherals with another computer. This can simplify switching a keyboard and mouse between a Mac Studio and a second machine. It is a 4K mini-LED option, but its lower pixel density means text is not as sharp as on the 5K LG.

RTINGS also reports more haloing than on the 5K LG and no local dimming in SDR. That distinction matters if you want local-dimming contrast while working outside HDR content. The Acer makes most sense when the KVM and 4K feature set are more useful to you than the extra text density of 5K.

Rank #4
Dell 27 Monitor S2725QC, 4K UHD IPS, 120Hz, 99% sRGB, 4ms, FreeSync Premium
  • Low blue light: The improved ComfortView Plus reduces harmful blue light emissions to ≤35%, for all-day comfort without sacrificing color accuracy.
  • Refresh rate: A smooth, tear-free experience with AMD FreeSync Premium (refresh rate up to 120Hz) and an ultra-low 0.03ms response time create a captivating experience for work and play.

  • Re-engineered sound quality: Enjoy more detailed sound with spacious audio featuring greater output power, deeper frequency response and more decibel range than the previous generation.
  • Easy connectivity: Keep your desk organized and clutter-free with a single USB-C cable (up to 65W power delivery).

4. Dell S2725QC: a 27-inch 4K choice for SDR

The Dell S2725QC is a straightforward 27-inch 4K option for buyers who value an accurate sRGB mode and a USB hub more than high-end HDR. RTINGS reports that it has no local dimming, low contrast, and weaker HDR performance. If your work is mostly SDR and you want 4K resolution, those limitations may be acceptable; if HDR is central to your use, look higher in the list.

5. Dell S2725DC: a budget 1440p option

The S2725DC is the budget-oriented choice in this group, with USB-C connectivity. Its 1440p resolution is a clear step down from the 4K and 5K options for text sharpness. RTINGS also reports no dedicated sRGB mode and no HDR support. It is best suited to buyers who prioritize spending less over maximum workspace detail or HDR features; check the current price and exact listing rather than relying on a presumed discount.

How to choose for your Mac Studio

  • For the sharpest text in this group: Favor a 5K model. The XDR’s Apple-stated density is 218 pixels per inch; RTINGS identifies the Acer’s 4K density as lower than the LG’s 5K.
  • For HDR and local dimming: Start with the XDR or compare the two mini-LED alternatives. Consider RTINGS’ reported haloing and sustained-brightness caveats, and remember the Acer has no SDR local dimming.
  • For color work: The XDR offers P3 and Adobe RGB according to Apple, while RTINGS reports an accurate sRGB mode on the Dell S2725QC. Match the monitor’s modes to your actual workflow rather than assuming every display handles color identically.
  • For desk connectivity: The XDR has two Thunderbolt 5 and two USB-C ports. The Acer’s KVM can share peripherals between computers; the LG lacks Thunderbolt 5 and daisy chaining; the Dells offer a USB hub or USB-C as noted above.
  • For high refresh: Compare each monitor’s refresh needs with the capabilities of your exact Mac Studio. In particular, Apple limits XDR to 60Hz on specified M1, M2, and M3 Mac models.
  • For glare control: RTINGS says the LG’s matte surface handles reflections better than the Apple display. Room lighting and screen placement still affect what works best at your desk.

What to verify before ordering

  1. Confirm the exact model number and current price with the retailer; historical launch pricing is not today’s retail price.
  2. Check the monitor’s included ports and required cable against the ports available on your Mac Studio and any other computer you plan to connect.
  3. If refresh rate matters, verify compatibility for your specific Mac generation and macOS version in Apple’s current documentation.
  4. Choose based on the work you actually do: 5K text clarity, HDR, sRGB accuracy, KVM switching, USB connectivity, or reflection handling can each outweigh another feature.
