To beat Bonemass in Valheim, bring a blunt weapon such as an Iron Mace, use Poison Resistance Mead and move out of its poison attack, and deal with summoned minions before they crowd your arena. You summon the boss at its Swamp altar with ten Withered Bones; defeating it rewards the Wishbone, which helps you find silver in the Mountains.
1. Use blunt damage
Bonemass is vulnerable to blunt damage, making a mace a practical choice for the fight. An Iron Mace is one recommended option, but it is not the only valid weapon; the available strategy guidance also mentions two-handed clubs. Choose a blunt weapon that suits your build and keep attacking when Bonemass is within safe reach.

The evidence supports blunt damage as the key weapon criterion, but it does not establish a precise damage multiplier or a definitive ranking of weapon models. Pick for damage type and your ability to use it reliably, rather than assuming one weapon is best for every character.
2. Prepare for poison—and leave the danger area
Bonemass uses a poison attack, so bring Poison Resistance Mead as a precaution. Resistance is preparation, not a reason to stand in the attack: watch for Bonemass’s tell and move clear of the danger area. The strategy guidance recommends kiting away from the poison cloud rather than trading hits inside it.

- About 45 minutes per player
- A cooperative board game
- Based on the hit video game
Exact current attack timing, damage, and duration are not established here, so avoid relying on a memorized timer. Stay alert to the boss’s animation and preserve room to retreat.
3. Keep summoned minions from overwhelming the fight
Bonemass summons minions, which can add pressure while you are dealing with the boss. Respond to them before they build up, and avoid letting them pin you in place. When the boss and minions threaten to crowd you, create distance and reposition rather than getting boxed in.
