Its 50-pint capacity and built-in pump give it an advantage when collected water needs to reach an elevated drain, such as a nearby sink. The 1.6-gallon tank is small relative to the unit’s capacity, so the pump is useful if you do not want to rely on tank emptying.

Best for average bathrooms: Midea MAD20S1QWT
This lower-capacity option is the middle ground for an average-sized bathroom. Its 3.2-gallon tank is larger than the one on the 50-pint pick, and an optional hose can drain by gravity into a tub or shower drain. That arrangement works only when the drain is positioned to let water flow downhill; this model has no pump to send water upward.
RTINGS notes that it is slower than the 50-pint model in persistently humid spaces. It is also somewhat bulky and audible, so allow for its footprint and consider where it will run.

Best for very small bathrooms and light humidity: TABYIK DH-CS01
The compact TABYIK is the budget-oriented choice for a very small bathroom or an RV when the problem is lingering humidity rather than a fast, heavy post-shower moisture load. RTINGS describes it as quiet and space-saving, but its moisture-removal capacity is very limited compared with the two Midea units.

It has no humidistat or continuous-drain option. You need to start it manually and empty its 0.3-gallon tank by hand; choose another type of unit if you want automatic humidity control or unattended drainage.

How to choose for your bathroom
Match capacity to the room and its conditions
Room size alone is not the whole decision: how humid the space gets also affects the capacity required. ENERGY STAR advises against undersizing and recommends considering both space size and conditions. A unit that is too small may not keep up with a recurring moisture load.
Check drainage before buying
A larger tank means less frequent emptying, but tank capacity is different from the amount of water a machine can remove over time. For continuous drainage, check whether the unit relies on gravity or has a pump. Gravity drainage needs a suitable lower drain; a pump can route water to an elevated destination, subject to the unit’s setup.

Consider noise, heat, and floor space
Bathroom placement can put a dehumidifier close to people, doors, and fixtures. Compare the documented noise and heat trade-offs as well as the footprint, and leave room for airflow and access to the tank or hose. The large Midea is the strongest capacity choice here, but not the quietest or smallest.
Look for useful humidity control and efficiency information
A humidistat can help a unit respond to a target humidity instead of relying only on manual starts. If the dehumidifier does not show relative humidity or have a useful humidistat, ENERGY STAR suggests considering a separate hygrometer near the unit. For efficiency comparisons, look for integrated energy factor (IEF), measured in liters of water removed per kilowatt-hour; a higher IEF generally indicates greater efficiency. ENERGY STAR says certified dehumidifiers are 20% more efficient than non-certified models under its current guidance, with the current specification effective October 1, 2025. Comparable IEF figures or operating costs for the three picks are not established here.

Use a dehumidifier alongside bathroom ventilation
Moisture is best addressed at its source. ENERGY STAR advises using bathroom and kitchen vent fans to remove humidity at the source; a portable dehumidifier should not be treated as a substitute for suitable bathroom ventilation. The agency describes 30%–50% relative humidity as the generally considered optimum range for a building and notes that levels above it may promote mold growth. In colder climates, winter guidance may call for 30%–40% RH to reduce window condensation.
If you are considering a fan over a tub or shower, follow the specific model’s installation and electrical requirements. For example, Broan-NuTone says its AE50110DCS is UL listed for use over bathtubs or showers when ceiling-mounted and connected to a GFCI-protected branch circuit. That condition applies to this model, not to bathroom fans generally. Its product page lists selectable airflow of 50/80/110 CFM.
