Google Tensor G3 is the system-on-chip inside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google designed it around on-device AI, image processing and security as well as general computing. The clearest published performance snapshot is a rolling chart of user-submitted Pixel 8 Geekbench 6 results—not a controlled test of every Tensor G3 device or a measure of sustained performance.
What is Google Tensor G3?
Tensor G3 is Google’s third-generation Tensor chip, announced on October 4, 2023, for the Pixel 8 generation. It is not sold as a standalone consumer processor: it is part of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google describes the chip as having a latest-generation ARM CPU, an upgraded GPU, a new image signal processor (ISP) and Imaging DSP, and a next-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) designed to run Google’s AI models. Google’s announcement does not publish a complete specification table.

What do the Pixel 8 benchmark scores show?
Geekbench Browser’s Pixel 8 chart showed these results in its 2026 snapshot, accessed October 7, 2026. The chart gathers user-submitted Geekbench 6 results, so scores may change as submissions are added. These are Pixel 8 results, not a universal score for every Tensor G3 device.

See the Geekbench Browser Pixel 8 chart for the live submissions. It lists Geekbench 7 calibrations separately; do not compare those directly with Geekbench 6 scores. The chart does not establish how a phone performs under sustained load, how hot it gets, its battery life, or how it ranks against another phone in real-world use.

Google says its Tensor strategy is about advancing mobile computing rather than optimizing “speeds and feeds.” It points to on-device machine learning, speech and natural-language understanding, text-to-speech, Live HDR video, computational photography, Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser and security as areas supported by Tensor and the Pixel system. Those are Google’s product capability claims, not results measured by the Geekbench chart.

How to interpret Tensor G3 performance
- Use like-for-like benchmark results. Compare the same Geekbench version and test type, and account for the device and software conditions.
- Separate peak scores from sustained behavior. A chart of submitted scores does not show performance over a long workload or thermal behavior.
- Judge Pixel features separately. AI functions, camera processing, efficiency, thermals and software support require evidence beyond a CPU or GPU benchmark.
