Neither chip wins every workload. Published comparison aggregates give the Google Tensor G2 a modest lead in Geekbench 6 CPU results, while GPU results split by benchmark: the Exynos 2100 scores higher in one compute test, and Tensor G2 leads in two cited 3DMark tests. Those figures come from comparison-page submissions, not matched phones tested under controlled conditions.
How the specifications compare
| Specification | Samsung Exynos 2100 | Google Tensor G2 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 1× Cortex-X1 up to 2.9 GHz; 3× Cortex-A78 up to 2.8 GHz; 4× Cortex-A55 up to 2.2 GHz. Samsung’s product specifications. | 2× Cortex-X1 up to 2.85 GHz; 2× Cortex-A78 up to 2.35 GHz; 4× Cortex-A55 up to 1.8 GHz. Listed by comparison sources, rather than confirmed here from an official Google specification. NanoReview; CPU-Monkey. |
| GPU | Mali-G78 MP14 | Mali-G710 MP7 |
| Manufacturing process | 5 nm FinFET, according to Samsung | 5 nm, according to comparison pages; an official Google source was not established here |
| Memory and storage support | LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1, according to Samsung | Not established from an official source |
| AI hardware | Triple-core NPU and DSP; Samsung states up to 26 TOPS | Google Tensor Processing Unit, according to NanoReview; no comparable TOPS figure established |
Both chips use an eight-core CPU cluster and are listed as 5 nm parts. The GPU names indicate different architectures and configurations; comparing the number of GPU cores alone does not establish which chip will render a game faster. Nor do matching nominal process labels prove equal power efficiency.

Samsung describes Exynos 2100 as offering up to 19% better single-core and up to 33% better multi-core performance, and up to 46% better sustained GPU performance. Those are Samsung’s claims against its predecessor, not against Tensor G2. Its up-to-26-TOPS figure is also a vendor claim, not a directly comparable measurement of Google’s TPU. Samsung Semiconductor Global: Exynos 2100.
What the published CPU benchmarks show
| Benchmark aggregate | Exynos 2100 | Tensor G2 | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,435 | 1,461 | Small Tensor G2 lead in this aggregate |
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,555 | 3,867 | Tensor G2 lead in this aggregate |
| CPU-Monkey Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,334 | 1,426 | Tensor G2 lead; values differ from NanoReview |
| CPU-Monkey Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,339 | 3,342 | Effectively level in this aggregate |
The single-core result favors Tensor G2 in both sources, but the size of the difference depends on the aggregate. Multi-core results are less consistent: NanoReview puts Tensor G2 ahead, while CPU-Monkey reports nearly identical scores. These are published comparison-page scores, not measurements from the same phone models under one lab protocol. NanoReview; CPU-Monkey.

GPU and graphics results depend on the test
| Test | Exynos 2100 | Tensor G2 | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 GPU compute | 6,754 | 4,715 | Exynos 2100 scores higher, but the listed APIs differ: OpenCL for Exynos and Vulkan for Tensor G2, so this is not an equivalent comparison |
| NanoReview 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 328; stability 72% | 702; stability 78% | Tensor G2 leads in this test |
| NanoReview 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | 1,800; stability 64% | 1,821; stability 77% | Scores are close, with Tensor G2 slightly ahead |
| CPU-Monkey theoretical iGPU FP32 throughput | 1,360 GFLOPS | 700 GFLOPS | Exynos 2100 has the higher theoretical estimate; it is not a game-frame-rate test |
The 3DMark stability percentages are the values reported alongside those comparison-page results; they should not be treated as a promise about sustained performance in every phone. Cooling, firmware, memory, benchmark version, API and the devices represented in each source’s sample can all affect scores. NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 aggregates are 1,065,369 for Exynos 2100 and 1,186,373 for Tensor G2, based on samples of 40 and 54 respectively; they are not a device-matched lab test. NanoReview benchmark comparison; CPU-Monkey comparison.
Which processor is faster?
For the cited Geekbench 6 CPU aggregates, Tensor G2 is the more consistent single-core leader; the multi-core outcome varies by source. There is no universal CPU or GPU winner in the evidence above: Exynos 2100 wins the cited GPU compute result, while Tensor G2 wins Steel Nomad Light and narrowly leads Wild Life Extreme. The differing APIs and benchmark methods matter, so a score should be read as a result for that test, not a general speed rating.

What this means for gaming and phone choice
The benchmark set does not establish which chip delivers better frame rates in a particular game. The theoretical FP32 figure is not a substitute for game testing, and scores from different handset samples cannot isolate the processor from phone design. Cooling, firmware and memory can change observed performance; battery capacity, cameras, software support, regional model configuration and price also matter when choosing between phones. This chip comparison alone cannot settle those handset-level questions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor AI workloads, the available figures do not provide a like-for-like comparison. Samsung’s TOPS claim covers its NPU, while no comparable Tensor G2 throughput figure or common-task test is established here. A higher vendor throughput figure would not by itself show which phone completes a real task faster.
