tenfold Software has added two features to its free Community Edition (CE) identity governance tool: shared-content governance for Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint, and event auditing for log analysis. The announcement ran on BleepingComputer on October 5, 2026. It is a sponsored post written by tenfold, so everything below is what the vendor says it built. It is not independently tested.
Who can use tenfold Community Edition
tenfold says CE is free for organizations with fewer than 150 managed users. Administrator and service accounts count toward that total. The announcement says CE includes the features and integrations of tenfold’s highest licensing tier, and the user cap is the only usage limit. You request it through tenfold’s website.
These are the vendor’s terms as of the announcement. Check the current eligibility rules on tenfold’s site before you plan around them. Count service accounts too, because they are easy to forget and can push a small tenant over the cap.

The two new features at a glance
| Axis | Shared-content governance | Event auditing |
|---|---|---|
| Data covered | Files shared across Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint | Event logs from connected systems |
| Main action | Owners confirm or revoke access they previously granted | Admins filter events and save or share queries |
| Who does the work | File, channel and site owners, plus an admin overview | Administrators and security staff |
| Question it answers | “Who can still reach this content, and should they?” | “What happened, to whom, and on which system?” |
| Evidence level | Vendor description only | Vendor description only |
They are two separate capabilities, not competing options. One reduces lingering access to content. The other helps you spot odd identity activity.
Shared-content governance
According to the announcement, administrators get an overview of shared files across:
#1 Best Overall
- SharePoint sites
- Teams channels
- one-to-one chats
- users’ OneDrives
The feature also supports recurring access reviews. The tool prompts file, channel or site owners to look over items they shared earlier. Each reviewer gets a personalized dashboard checklist where they can confirm the sharing or revoke it.
The review is delegated to the people who know the content, so IT doesn’t have to judge every share. In a small organization, where one admin often handles everything, that may be the most useful part. The announcement does not say how often reviews can recur, what happens if an owner ignores a prompt, or how revocation behaves for external guests. Ask about those before you rely on it for compliance.

Event auditing
tenfold describes event auditing as real-time log analysis. Per the announcement, you can:
- ingest and analyze event logs;
- record selected event types in tenfold’s database;
- filter event data by user, system or event type;
- save queries and share them with colleagues.
The examples given are login spikes and newly created administrator accounts, both common starting points when you investigate a possible compromise. The announcement gives no detection-rate figures, no alerting details and no validation by a third party. Treat it as a way to search and reuse queries over logs you choose to collect. It does not replace a monitoring or SIEM product.

Setup claims
tenfold describes a setup wizard, built-in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID integrations, video tutorials and no-code configuration. The announcement gives no setup time, no list of prerequisites and no example deployment. Run a small pilot, such as one SharePoint site and one review cycle, to see the real effort.

It fits if you meet the following conditions:
- You have under 150 managed accounts, counting admin and service accounts.
- You run Microsoft 365 with Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, and sharing has built up over time.
- You use Active Directory or Entra ID, the two integrations the announcement names.
- You want owner-driven access reviews without buying an enterprise governance suite.
Before you commit, confirm what the free tier covers, what the vendor-reported setup really takes, and whether the event types you need are among those the tool can record.
