Telangana’s state-wise domestic GST collections reached ₹5,327 crore in September 2026, up 18% from ₹4,512 crore a year earlier. The figure excludes GST on imports and is separate from the state’s post-settlement SGST total.
How much GST did Telangana collect in September 2026?
The September GST revenue table republished by Goodsandservicetax.in reports Telangana’s state-wise domestic collection at ₹5,327 crore, compared with ₹4,512 crore in September 2025. That is an 18% year-on-year increase. The table labels this state-wise measure as excluding GST on imports, so ₹5,327 crore should not be read as the state’s total tax take across all GST accounting measures.

The published figures establish the size of the increase, but they do not isolate its causes. They do not show how much of Telangana’s rise came from consumption, business activity, compliance, enforcement, imports or any other specific factor.

EY India Tax Partner Saurabh Agarwal described growth as broad-based across several states, saying: “The growth in the tax mop-up is broad based with Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Karnataka each up 16 per cent to 18 per cent.” DD India/PTI reported the comment on October 1, 2026. It characterises a wider state-level pattern, not a Telangana-specific explanation.
How does Telangana’s growth compare with India?
India’s gross GST collections were ₹2,03,521 crore in September 2026, up 14.7% year on year. Net collections after refunds were ₹1,76,520 crore, an increase of 18.1%. Telangana’s 18% figure is a state-wise domestic collection rate, so it should not be treated as directly equivalent to either national rate.
DD India/PTI reported that imports contributed to national gross growth. It also noted a comparison-base effect: GST rate changes announced on September 3, 2025 took effect on September 22, 2025, leaving September 2025 as a subdued base for year-on-year national comparisons. That context does not establish why Telangana’s own collections increased.
Why is the separate Telangana SGST figure 14%?
A different accounting measure reported by DD India/PTI is post-settlement SGST, which includes the SGST portion of IGST settled to Telangana. It stood at ₹4,402 crore in September 2026, up 14% from ₹3,870 crore in September 2025.

This is not a contradiction with the 18% state-wise domestic GST growth: the figures cover different measures. The same report puts Telangana’s post-settlement SGST at ₹26,287 crore cumulatively for April–September 2026, compared with ₹22,231 crore in the corresponding period, an 18% rise. That six-month result uses the post-settlement SGST measure and should not be substituted for the one-month state-wise figure.
