What is the record date, and how does eligibility work?
The record date is the date TCS uses to identify shareholders entitled to a declared dividend. For dematerialized shares, TCS’s 2026 AGM notice refers to beneficial-owner data provided by depositories at close of business on that date. For physical shares, entitlement is based on the company’s member records, subject to valid transmission or transposition requests being lodged by the record date.
Check the relevant TCS announcement and your account or folio records for the specific dividend. The record date alone does not establish the ex-dividend date.

What is the TCS ex-dividend date?
The official sources reviewed did not state an ex-dividend date for the Q2 FY27 dividend announced in October 2026. TCS says dividend dates are published on its investor page and notified to BSE and NSE. If you need the ex-dividend date for a particular announcement, verify it in an authoritative exchange or broker corporate-action record rather than calculating it from the record date.
When will TCS pay the dividend, and what if it is missing?
The Q2 FY27 payment was scheduled for 30 October 2026. For another distribution, use the actual payment date shown in TCS’s dividend schedule; a scheduled date does not promise a particular bank-credit time.
Rank #3
TCS states that, from 18 November 2025, dividends are processed only electronically; dividend warrants and cheques have been discontinued. Payment depends on valid bank details and KYC.
- Demat shares: Check that your bank details are current with your depository participant.
- Physical shares: Check with the company or its registrar that your folio has the required PAN, contact information, bank account details and specimen signature.
- If payment is still missing: Confirm the announced payment date and the registered details for your type of holding, then contact TCS investor relations or its registrar through the channels listed in the TCS investor FAQs.
How is TCS dividend taxed, and what does TDS mean?
TCS says dividend income is taxable in the shareholder’s hands and may deduct tax at source (TDS). Its investor FAQ gives the following withholding guidance for resident shareholders:
Rank #4
| Shareholder situation | TCS FAQ withholding guidance |
|---|---|
| Resident individual with PAN updated | 10% TDS when aggregate dividend payable during the tax year exceeds ₹10,000 |
| Resident individual without PAN updated | 20% TDS, according to the company FAQ |
| Resident individual whose aggregate dividend payable during the tax year does not exceed ₹10,000 | No TDS; withholding applies to later dividend payments after the aggregate crosses the threshold |
| Resident non-individual | TDS applies without a threshold, according to the company FAQ |
These are TCS’s published withholding statements, not a calculation of your final tax bill. TDS deducted is not necessarily the final tax due. Check current tax rules and your own circumstances; non-residents may have treaty eligibility and documentation requirements that vary by case.

Form 121 and declarations
TCS’s FAQ says Form 121 replaces Forms 15G and 15H from 1 April 2026 for Tax Year 2026–27 onward. It advises submitting Form 121 at the start of the tax year or at least five days before the record date to allow verification; a late submission is considered only for subsequent dividends.
Best Value
For non-resident shareholders seeking treaty benefits, TCS lists documents including a Tax Residency Certificate, electronically filed Form 41, and declarations on beneficial ownership and permanent establishment in India. Missing or invalid documents can lead to withholding at domestic rates. Eligibility for a treaty rate depends on the shareholder’s facts and documentation.
