The TCL 55C6L is a 55-inch 4K QD-Mini LED television with Google TV, local dimming, Dolby Vision and HDR10+, according to TCL’s Australian specifications. Its listed four HDMI 2.1 inputs and high-refresh gaming modes look promising on paper, but no independent test of this exact model was established. Treat this as a guide to its published features—not a verdict on measured picture quality or value.
What is the TCL 55C6L?
The 55C6L belongs to TCL’s C6L QD-Mini LED series. TCL New Zealand lists a 55-inch C6L, and an Australian specification sheet identifies the 55C6L model specifically. The detailed specifications below come from the Australian-market sheet; regional versions can differ, and TCL notes that specifications may change or require software updates. TCL Australia’s C6L specifications and TCL New Zealand’s C6L product page are the relevant regional references.

Picture and HDR: what the specifications establish
TCL lists a 3840 × 2160 (4K) resolution, QD-Mini LED display, local dimming, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for the Australian 55C6L. Those features describe the format and backlight technologies the television supports; they do not establish how bright the screen gets, how effectively local dimming controls halos around bright objects, or how accurately it renders color.
No independent measurements of brightness, contrast, color accuracy, blooming, viewing angles or real-world HDR performance for the exact 55C6L were established. TCL’s Australian sheet includes 600-nit and 700-nit figures in a size table, but the extracted information does not clearly show which sizes they apply to. Neither figure should be treated as a confirmed brightness rating for the 55-inch model.

Gaming: 144Hz and 288Hz claims need context
TCL’s Australian sheet lists ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), FreeSync Premium Pro and variable refresh rate (VRR), including a stated 48–288Hz range and DLG 288Hz. TCL New Zealand describes 4K at 144Hz and 1080p at 288Hz, with the 288Hz mode requiring a supported mode, compatible device and compatible content. See TCL New Zealand’s C6L page for that regional description.
The extracted Australian specification table does not clearly assign every gaming figure to each screen size. Therefore, while the series is advertised with these high-refresh modes, confirm the exact supported modes for the 55-inch variant before buying it for a particular PC or console setup. The published figures also do not tell you the set’s measured input lag or how well motion looks in practice.

Ports, smart TV and audio
The Australian specification sheet lists four HDMI 2.1 inputs, HDMI eARC, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, optical audio output, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. The four HDMI inputs offer flexibility for multiple connected devices; eARC can send audio to a compatible soundbar or receiver. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent verification.

- QD-MINI LED | BRIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE, DARK WHERE IT SHOULDN'T: Get the deep blacks and precise contrast shoppers expect from a premium display, plus the high brightness Mini LED is known for. Up to 500 local dimming zones with TCL Halo Control Technology precisely control the backlight to reduce unwanted blooming around bright objects. The result is bright highlights, deeper blacks and greater contrast, without the burn-in concern associated with premium displays
- NATIVE 144Hz | BUILT FOR GAMING + SPORTS: Looking for a gaming TV or a better TV for sports? Native 144Hz, Motion Rate 480, VRR, ALLM and Game Accelerator deliver smooth, responsive gameplay and clearer fast-moving action. Follow the ball, catch every play or jump into high-speed gaming with greater motion clarity and responsiveness
- ONKYO 2.1 + BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER | HOME THEATER SOUND: Turn your living room into a home theater with Onkyo 2.1 audio and a 20W subwoofer for deeper bass, clearer dialogue and fuller sound. Dolby Atmos and dedicated DTS add immersive audio for movies, gaming, sports and streaming. With powerful sound built right into the TV, adding a soundbar is optional
- BEZEL-LESS DESIGN | MORE SCREEN, LESS FRAME: Make your entertainment feel bigger. The thin, bezel-less design minimizes the frame around the picture for a more immersive big-screen experience. Whether you're watching movies, streaming shows, sports or gaming, more of what you see is the picture, not the frame
- 1.07 BILLION COLORS + AiPQ PRO | BETTER PICTURE FOR MOVIES + STREAMING: A bigger screen should make your entertainment better, not just bigger. Enhanced QLED Color delivers up to 1.07 billion colors with a wide color gamut, while TCL's AiPQ Pro Processor intelligently optimizes color, contrast and clarity for movies, streaming, sports and games
TCL lists two 10W audio outputs and Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X support. Those labels do not establish how full or clear the built-in speakers sound. A soundbar with HDMI eARC is a compatible optional upgrade, but there is no model-specific test here showing that one is necessary or identifying a best match.
Wall mounting and installation
TCL says the television can be wall-mounted or used on a stand, and the Australian specification sheet says the wall bracket is not included. TCL New Zealand notes that an ultra-slim wall mount may be sold separately if you want the slimmest wall fit; the final gap depends on the installation and wall conditions.

The available extracted table does not unambiguously identify the 55-inch VESA mounting pattern. Check the exact 55C6L manual or ask TCL support to confirm the pattern before buying a bracket. Do not assume a mount fits based only on the screen size; also verify its supported VESA pattern and weight rating against the television’s documentation.
Regional warranty and software support
For the Australian market, TCL’s specification sheet states a three-year warranty and four years of product software support. These terms should not be assumed to apply elsewhere; verify the warranty and support policy for the country where you plan to buy the television. TCL Australia’s product information is the source for the Australian specifications.

Should you buy the TCL 55C6L?
The listed feature set makes the 55C6L worth considering if you want a 55-inch 4K television with Mini LED branding, Dolby Vision and HDR10+, Google TV and multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs. For gaming, check the precise refresh modes supported by the 55-inch model and your device rather than relying on a series-level 288Hz headline.
A confident value recommendation is not possible from the published specifications alone: current local price and stock are not established, and there are no independent measurements for picture quality, motion or input lag on this exact model. Compare it with alternatives using current regional pricing and warranty terms, measured brightness and blooming, exact-model gaming tests, HDR support, connectivity, app availability and installation requirements.
