The Taste the Difference HD15 is a discontinued, 10 L lid-style air roaster with a removable bowl and rotating cooking attachments—not a conventional pull-out basket fryer. Its manual documents the controls, accessories and safety requirements, but the public review evidence does not establish how well it cooks particular foods. If you are considering a secondhand unit, check its condition and accessory set before deciding whether it suits your kitchen.
What kind of appliance is the HD15?
The HD15 uses a removable inner dish covered by a hinged lid. The manual describes “TruSurround” fan-forced convection, an overhead fan and halogen element, and a second element in the base. That arrangement differs from a typical drawer-style air fryer, where food sits in a pull-out basket and is generally cooked without a motorized rotating accessory.

The HD15’s drive socket and bracket let the included attachments rotate inside the dish. The manual says to leave enough room for food to turn freely. This opens up uses such as rotisserie cooking and tumble frying, but also means setup depends on fitting the right attachment and loading it without obstructing rotation.

The dimensional figures use different axis orders, so compare the stated width, depth and height rather than reading the sequences as directly equivalent. The indexed ERAC record is dated 18 February 2016 and displays an expiry date of 17 February 2021; it is not evidence of current certification.

What accessories and controls are included?
The manual lists a dual-height grill rack, grill tray, handling tongs, rotisserie chicken forks and rod, skewer rack, tumble fryer and rotisserie cage. The rotisserie parts are intended for chicken or meat, the skewer rack turns food on skewers, and the tumble fryer and cage hold food during rotation. Because the model is discontinued, do not assume a secondhand unit will include every part or that replacements are currently available.
Preset menus are labelled DIY, nuts, chicken, cake, skewer, steak, French fries and fish. You can adjust the cooking time and temperature, and switch rotation on or off. Opening the lid pauses cooking; closing it resumes the process without resetting the selected mode, temperature or timer.

What does the independent review evidence say?
CHOICE’s public HD15 page shows a 79% expert rating and describes the appliance as a lid-style air fryer with a non-stick pan or bowl. That overall score is not a food-specific result. The detailed cooking, ease-of-use, cleaning, controls and running-cost results, along with recommendation information, are available to members only.

The manual’s claims about speed, evenness, flavor retention and reduced oil use are manufacturer descriptions, not independently verified findings here. The public evidence therefore does not support a verdict that the HD15 excels or performs poorly with any particular food. CHOICE marks it discontinued and lists $399, but the page’s publication date is not visible; treat that amount as a historical listing, not a current price or evidence of stock.

How to set up and use the HD15 safely
- Prepare the parts: Before first use, remove all packaging, including any paper beneath the inner dish, then clean the dish and accessories.
- Seat the inner dish: Install it with the internal bracket at the front and the hole at the back. Ensure the handles sit flush. The manual describes a safety cutoff if the dish is not seated properly.
- Choose a safe location: Set the appliance on a stable, flat, dry, heat-resistant surface, away from wall cupboards and flammable materials. Do not move it while it is operating or hot.
- Fit an attachment if needed: Connect it to the drive socket and bracket, then leave enough clearance for food to rotate freely.
- Set the cooking controls: Select a preset or adjust time and temperature, and choose whether to run rotation. Follow the manual’s directions for the selected attachment.
The manual’s exact safety instruction is: “The Air Roaster can NEVER be used without the Inner Dish in place.” The lid also has a cutoff. Do not treat either cutoff as a substitute for correct assembly or safe handling.
Manual cooking times: starting points, not tested recipes
The manual provides reference temperatures and times. These are manufacturer starting points, not independently tested recipes; cooking time varies with food size and starting temperature. Check doneness with an appropriate food thermometer.

Cleaning the bowl and attachments
- Disconnect the appliance from mains power and let it cool completely.
- Wipe the main body and control panel with a damp cloth, then dry them.
- Wash the removable dish and accessories in warm, soapy water.
- Do not immerse the body, heater or control panel. Avoid scourers and harsh cleaning agents.
What to check before buying a used HD15
Since CHOICE marks the HD15 discontinued, assess the actual unit rather than relying on a current-stock assumption or an old listed price. Before paying, check that the inner dish is present and seats flush, the lid closes, and the controls respond. Inspect the dish’s non-stick surface and confirm that the drive socket and rotating mechanism work. Compare the included attachments against the manual’s list, especially if you plan to use rotisserie, skewers or tumble frying. Current replacement-part availability has not been established.
The HD15’s 10 L figure is a stated container capacity, not a measure of how much food can be loaded while still allowing a rotating attachment to turn freely. Consider the appliance’s 6.5 kg weight and the manual’s body dimensions when checking available counter or storage space.
