System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is free on the Epic Games Store until October 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The Windows remaster was released June 26, 2025, so it is just over a year old as of October 2026. Epic’s listing confirms the price and deadline; a separate giveaway page describes a Prime-linked claim route, but Epic’s listing does not state that Prime is required.
What is free, and when does the offer end?
Epic Games Store lists the Windows base game at no charge through October 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The deadline is specific to Epic’s listing and may change, so check the official Epic Games Store page before claiming. Epic identifies Nightdive Studios as developer and Atari as publisher, and dates the remaster’s release to June 26, 2025.

Does claiming it require Amazon Prime?
GameTop’s October 4, 2026 giveaway page describes a claim route that uses an active Amazon Prime account linked to Epic Games Store. Epic’s own product listing confirms the free offer and its end time but does not mention Prime as a requirement. The available information therefore supports the Prime-linked route described by GameTop, not a claim that Prime is universally required for every Epic account or region. Check the official Epic listing for the offer available to your account.
What kind of game is it?
Epic categorizes it as a first-person horror shooter and describes it as a modernized version of an FPS/RPG classic. The story takes place aboard the FTL ship Von Braun in 2114: the player wakes from cryogenic sleep as hybrid mutants and robots roam the vessel. The store description sets the tone: “Survive the wretched corridors of the Von Braun. Your training has prepared you for this.”
