An Android Authority reader poll suggests that some respondents are open to switching to Apple’s iPhone Duo, but it does not show how many Android users overall are considering a move. Of 1,211 votes, 16% said they were sold and 11% were tempted but wanted the cameras to catch up. Those results describe that publisher’s voters, not Android owners as a whole.
What the Android Authority poll actually found
Android Authority asked readers, “Would you ditch Android for the iPhone Duo?” Its 2026 poll recorded 1,211 votes. The reported responses were:

| Response | Share of votes |
|---|---|
| “Yes. I’m sold” | 16% |
| “Tempted, but the cameras need to catch up” | 11% |
| “I’m sticking to my Android foldables” | 34% |
| “I don’t care about foldable phones” | 39% |
That means 27% of the poll’s respondents chose one of the two answers expressing interest, while a larger share preferred Android foldables or said they were not interested in foldable phones. The poll was hosted by a technology publisher and does not establish a representative estimate of Android users’ views. Android Authority’s poll and commentary also do not provide a basis for claiming that Android fans generally are preparing to switch.

Android Authority writer Dhruv Bhutani, who identifies as a long-time Android user, describes the appeal in personal terms: a larger inner screen, productivity potential, software integration, and the feeling that the device is more complete than earlier foldables. His line, “The iPhone Duo feels like the foldable I’ve been waiting for,” is his own assessment—not a finding about poll respondents as a group. He also argues that Apple’s innovation is in releasing a finished product rather than being first to market; that, too, is opinion rather than an independently verified product assessment.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
For someone weighing a switch, the useful question is whether a foldable’s larger unfolded display would improve the tasks they actually do—such as reading, multitasking, or working across apps—enough to justify changing phones. Interest in a new form factor is not automatically a reason to leave an established Android setup.
The trade-offs behind the interest
Camera capability
Camera concerns appear directly in the poll’s “tempted” option. Commentary about the device also points to the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera. Whether that matters depends on how often you use optical zoom or rely on phone cameras for particular shots. The cited product details are media reporting, not specifications independently confirmed against Apple documentation.

Weight, bulk, and handling
Droid-Life’s September 10, 2026 roundup collected reactions from its own comments and from Reddit, YouTube, and X. Some reactions welcomed the foldable design; others raised concerns about weight and pocket bulk. The roundup offers examples, not a counted survey: it gives no defined sample or denominator from which to estimate how common either view is. Droid-Life’s reaction roundup is best read as a snapshot of opinions, not a measure of consumer sentiment.

Bhutani also notes the practical cost of leaving familiar Android apps, services, cloud storage, and muscle memory. Before switching, consider which accounts and files are tied to your current setup, which apps you depend on, and whether your daily routines would transfer smoothly. The poll measures stated interest, not how respondents would handle those changes in practice.

Price and first-generation risk
The commentary describes foldables as expensive and the Duo as a premium purchase. Some reactions in the Droid-Life roundup also express skepticism about price and first-generation hardware. These are concerns reported in commentary, not a verified price or evidence of a specific durability problem. Product pricing, availability, specifications, and timing should be checked against Apple’s own information before making a purchase decision.

Pogo reported a separate survey of 200 verified iPhone buyers. Twenty-nine respondents—14.5% of that sample—said the Duo was likely to be their next phone. That result concerns iPhone buyers and a different question; it cannot be used as evidence about Android users considering a switch. Pogo’s survey report also does not turn the Android Authority poll into a representative study.

Neither the poll nor the informal reaction roundup establishes the share of Android users who might switch. The poll does show that a meaningful portion of its own voters expressed interest, while its largest response group said they were not interested in foldables. Treat those as reactions from the audiences surveyed or observed—not as a forecast of sales or a measure of the wider Android market.
