Bull a inauguré le 2 octobre 2026 un nouveau bâtiment de production à Angers, dans le cadre d’un projet de reconstruction et de modernisation évalué à 80 millions d’euros. L’entreprise annonce une capacité de production doublée et une hausse de productivité de 30 % ; ce sont des objectifs du projet, pas encore un bilan de production constaté. La transformation complète du site est annoncée pour 2028.
Ce que Bull annonce pour le site d’Angers
Le site industriel conçoit, intègre, assemble, teste et valide des supercalculateurs, des infrastructures d’intelligence artificielle et des serveurs d’entreprise. Bull indique également que ses équipes qualifient et personnalisent les configurations avant leur livraison. L’inauguration du nouveau bâtiment marque une étape d’un chantier plus vaste, dont l’achèvement global est prévu en 2028, selon le communiqué de Bull du 2 octobre 2026.

Ces chiffres décrivent des capacités et des gains attendus. Les sources disponibles ne fournissent pas de bilan indépendant de la production depuis l’inauguration ni de mesure indépendante du gain de productivité.
Surfaces : des périmètres différents selon les sources
Bull annonce une surface totale de 20 000 m², dont 10 700 m² dédiés à la production. Le Monde décrit pour sa part une surface de production portée à 10 000 m², avec 10 000 m² supplémentaires de stockage, de laboratoires de tests et de bureaux prévus d’ici 2028. Les deux descriptions ne donnent pas exactement le même découpage ; elles doivent donc être conservées avec leur attribution plutôt que fusionnées en une répartition unique.

Les projets attendus en 2027
Bull annonce que le site doit accueillir la production d’Alice Recoque et de LUMI-AI en 2027. Alice Recoque est destiné à être hébergé en France ; LUMI-AI est associé à la LUMI AI Factory en Finlande. Ces dates sont prévisionnelles et peuvent évoluer. Le site a aussi contribué à JUPITER, que Bull présente comme le premier supercalculateur européen capable d’un milliard de milliards de calculs par seconde.
Les supercalculateurs de cette catégorie servent notamment à la simulation, à l’analyse climatique et à la recherche médicale, selon les exemples rapportés par Le Monde. Ces exemples décrivent des usages généraux : ils ne constituent pas une liste vérifiée des usages propres à Alice Recoque ou à LUMI-AI.

Énergie : solaire et récupération de chaleur annoncés
Le projet prévoit, selon Bull, plus de 3 500 panneaux photovoltaïques, pour une puissance maximale de 1 500 kWc sur 7 000 m². L’entreprise annonce aussi l’objectif d’injecter à terme 5 GWh de chaleur résiduelle par an dans le réseau urbain, ce qui pourrait, selon elle, correspondre à l’alimentation de 600 foyers. Il s’agit de caractéristiques et d’objectifs annoncés, non de résultats énergétiques déjà établis.

Avec son programme Open Factory, Bull dit vouloir ouvrir des capacités industrielles à des entreprises de l’IA, du calcul avancé et du quantique afin de les aider à passer de la recherche et développement à une fabrication à plus grande échelle. Bull présente son partenariat avec Foxconn sur des serveurs d’IA basés sur la plateforme NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 comme la première concrétisation du programme. Les informations publiées ne précisent pas davantage le calendrier ou le volume de production de ces lignes.

La souveraineté des capacités de calcul est également avancée comme justification de l’investissement. Lors de l’inauguration, le ministre Roland Lescure a déclaré, selon le communiqué de Bull : « Dans un contexte de fragmentation du monde, y compris dans le numérique, il est impératif que la France et l’Europe maîtrisent leurs propres capacités de calcul. » Cette déclaration expose une ambition politique ; elle ne mesure pas à elle seule le degré d’autonomie industrielle effectivement atteint.
