Higher-education learning platform Kortext acquired StudyStash, according to BusinessCloud’s October 2, 2026 report. The sale price was not disclosed: BusinessCloud said unspecified reports suggested an eight-figure sum, not a confirmed transaction value.
How much did StudyStash sell for?
No confirmed sale price is available in the reviewed reporting. BusinessCloud said the amount was undisclosed and that reports suggested an eight-figure figure. The publication explained that this would mean at least $10 million in US-dollar terms, but that is an interpretation of the reported range—not a disclosed or verified price. The report does not establish the deal structure or final consideration. BusinessCloud, October 2, 2026.
Who founded StudyStash, and what happens next?
Ben Ward and Jonathan Graham founded StudyStash while studying computer science at the University of Birmingham. BusinessCloud reported that Ward would remain CEO and Graham CTO, continuing to lead the brand after the acquisition. The report says the pair also worked together on PwC’s technology degree apprenticeship, and that Birmingham became StudyStash’s first customer after the founders took part in the university’s Elevate incubator. BusinessCloud.

StudyStash is a digital study platform that turns students’ existing course materials into adaptive learning aids. BusinessCloud describes features including flashcards, practice tests and podcasts, alongside integrations with Canvas, Blackboard and Moodle. These are reported product capabilities; they have not been independently tested here.

The founders told BusinessCloud that the idea came from their own need to convert course notes into useful study materials. Ward said, “We started StudyStash to solve our own problem but quickly realised we’d created a tool that could make a real difference to thousands of learners.” Graham said, “Universities set a high bar, and we built StudyStash to meet it from day one.” BusinessCloud, October 2, 2026.
How quickly did the company grow, and what does the reach show?
BusinessCloud reported that StudyStash had tens of thousands of student users across more than 160 institutions in the UK, Europe, the US and Africa. Those are the publication’s figures, not independently audited user or customer counts. Its article names California State University, Minnesota State, Colorado State, the University of Oulu, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and EAB among institutions and partners.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why is StudyStash a fit for Kortext?
Kortext presents its business as spanning digital content, teaching, learning, data and analytics, with products including Kortext study and Kortext IQ. That makes an institutional study platform a plausible strategic fit with Kortext’s stated portfolio. The company homepage, however, does not independently confirm this particular acquisition; the acquisition report comes from BusinessCloud. Kortext.
The business logic is also distinct from a consumer app sale: StudyStash’s reported growth rests on distribution through institutions and integration into existing learning systems. Adoption figures indicate reported reach, but they are not the same as independently demonstrated learning efficacy. The outcome comparison in the report lacks enough methodological detail to judge causation.
