Strikingly is a hosted, template-led website builder for people who want a polished site quickly rather than total control over design. Its pricing page currently lists three paid tiers (Limited at $8/month, Pro at $16/month, VIP at $49/month, each in USD and billed yearly), and the tier you choose decides whether you get things like more than five pages, a real online store, or custom code. This review is based on Strikingly’s published pricing, product and Help Center materials, not on hands-on editor testing.
What Strikingly is
Strikingly describes itself as a no-code website editor with templates, section-based design controls, integrations, e-commerce and SEO tools. That description comes from an older vendor product page, so treat it as positioning rather than a current feature audit. The practical idea is that you start from a template and build the site as a stack of sections, instead of placing elements freely on a blank canvas.

Hosting is bundled. Strikingly’s pricing FAQ says sites include managed cloud hosting, so you don’t need to buy hosting separately.

- Templates as the starting point. You adapt a ready-made design instead of designing from scratch.
- Section-oriented editing. Content is organized in sections, which keeps layouts consistent and hard to break.
- Basic appearance controls are documented. The Help Center index lists topics such as changing button colors and adding a logo, along with SEO and analytics articles.
- No separate hosting purchase. Hosting is included in the plans.
Where “limited customization” applies
The “limited customization” in this review’s title is a judgment, not a measured fact. Nothing in Strikingly’s published materials proves or disproves unrestricted layout control, and the Help Center’s listing of basic editing topics doesn’t document every control on every plan. What is reasonable to say:
- A section-based approach tends to feel restrictive if you need a bespoke layout that doesn’t fit the template’s structure.
- Custom code embedding is positioned as a Pro feature, per the pricing FAQ. On Limited, you shouldn’t count on integrations that need your own code.
- That doesn’t mean visual customization is locked behind Pro. Basic styling is documented without a tier restriction.
If your project is a portfolio, a small business landing page, or a simple one-pager, the structure is likely a feature. If you expect pixel-level control, test the free-to-start editor against your specific design before paying.

Recommended Free Tools
Which plan fits which reader
Limited ($8/month)
Fits a simple personal or brochure site that fits in five pages. It does include a custom domain, which is the main reason to pay rather than use a free address. Selling is barely viable: one product and a 5% transaction fee.
Pro ($16/month)
The sensible tier for most small businesses: up to 100 pages, up to 300 products, a 2% fee, forms, memberships and custom code. If “limited customization” worries you, this is the tier that opens the door to embedding your own code.
VIP ($49/month)
Makes sense mainly for stores that sell enough for the 0% transaction fee to offset the higher price, or those who want priority support and an account manager. Up to 500 products is a modest ceiling for a large catalog.

Caveats about this review
All prices, limits and features here are the vendor’s own claims, not independent measurements. No independent usage figures, speed benchmarks or user testimonials were found, so none are cited. Strikingly’s Help Center also lists an affiliate program section dated 2022, but its current status is unverified.
The Bottom Line
Strikingly suits people who want a good-looking, quick site and are happy to work within templates and sections. It is a weaker choice if you need freeform design control, and for anything beyond a five-page site, budget for Pro at $16/month (billed yearly) rather than Limited.
