StreamYard’s dedicated prerecorded-stream limits table lists Core at 10 GB and 2 hours, Advanced at 25 GB and 4 hours, and Teams and Business at 25 GB and 8 hours. Prerecorded streams are not listed as available on Free. There is an unresolved conflict for Advanced: two other StreamYard help pages say its file-size limit is 10 GB, not 25 GB. If you have an Advanced account and the file is between 10 GB and 25 GB, check the limit shown in your account or confirm it with StreamYard support before relying on either figure.
Scheduled prerecorded-stream limits by plan
The figures below are product specifications shown on StreamYard’s undated help pages. They describe the maximum uploaded file size and duration for a scheduled prerecorded broadcast, not every way to play a video in StreamYard.

The dedicated limits table is the clearest single plan-by-plan summary, but it does not settle the Advanced discrepancy. StreamYard’s Business plan details also list 25 GB and 8 hours for Business. Because the help pages do not explain the discrepancy, treat the current Advanced upload cap as unconfirmed rather than assuming the figures reflect a policy change.
What to do if you are on Advanced
- If your video is 10 GB or smaller, it is within both published size figures, subject to the 4-hour duration cap.
- If it is larger than 10 GB but no larger than 25 GB, verify the cap in your account interface or ask StreamYard support before scheduling or choosing a plan.
- If it exceeds 25 GB or 4 hours, the published limits do not support it as a single Advanced prerecorded stream.
What these limits apply to
These caps apply to an unattended prerecorded broadcast: you upload a video or choose a prior recording, select destinations and a scheduled time, and create the broadcast. It starts at the selected time and ends when the video finishes.

Sharing a local video in a live studio is different
StreamYard’s local video-sharing feature lets you play a file from your computer inside an active studio. Its help article states no file-size or video-length limit for that feature. That does not mean the same file can be uploaded for a scheduled prerecorded broadcast without regard to the plan caps. StreamYard says MP4 and MOV work best for local sharing, and shared files are removed if you exit or refresh the studio.
Media clips have separate limits
Video clips used as media assets are another distinct feature. StreamYard’s help page lists clips under 200 MB and under 10 minutes, or up to 1.2 GB and 60 minutes on Business. Do not use those clip limits to judge a scheduled prerecorded stream.

Prepare a file for upload
Meeting a plan’s size and duration caps is only part of upload preparation. StreamYard’s recommended-formats page supports MP4 and MOV video-library uploads, recommends H.264 video and AAC audio, and lists a maximum bitrate of 10 MB/s. Its optimization guide recommends MP4, H.264, constant 30 fps, AAC audio, web optimization (fast start), and aligned audio and video. Treat these as format and optimization guidance, not as substitutes for the plan limits.

- Container: MP4 or MOV.
- Video codec: H.264 is recommended.
- Audio codec: AAC is recommended.
- Frame rate: constant 30 fps is recommended in the optimization guide.
- Bitrate: keep within the stated maximum of 10 MB/s.
- Duration and file size: check both against your plan, and confirm Advanced’s size limit if your upload exceeds 10 GB.
Large files can take a long time to upload. StreamYard suggests compressing them with a tool such as HandBrake; its optimization guide includes a HandBrake conversion workflow for bringing a file within the recommended settings. Compression may reduce upload time and file size, but check the resulting picture and sound before scheduling.

Common limit and upload problems
- The file is rejected despite being under the duration cap: check its file size against the plan, then check format, codecs and bitrate. A permitted duration does not guarantee that the file meets the size or format requirements.
- An Advanced upload falls between 10 GB and 25 GB: the published help pages conflict. Confirm the currently enforced cap with StreamYard rather than relying on one page’s figure.
- The upload is very slow: large files may take a long time to upload. Consider compressing or converting the file with HandBrake, then verify that the converted file remains within the plan’s duration and size limits.
- You are trying to share a file in a studio: make sure you are using local video sharing rather than the scheduled prerecorded-broadcast workflow. The two features have different limits and behavior.
- A media clip exceeds its cap: check the separate clip limits; the limits for scheduled prerecorded streams do not apply to those assets.

Does StreamYard’s local video-sharing feature have the same upload cap?
