If YouTube Live says your StreamVoodoo broadcast is offline, trace the signal through each handoff: the source and StreamVoodoo room, the feed’s Magic Link, your broadcasting software, the selected YouTube event, and finally viewer playback. “Offline” alone does not identify which part failed, and the available StreamVoodoo guidance does not establish one cause or guaranteed fix.
First, identify what “offline” means in your case
This article is about a live broadcast that is not appearing as live on YouTube. YouTube also uses “offline” to describe downloading certain videos in its mobile app for viewing without an internet connection in some areas; that separate feature is not a live-stream status.

Check where the failure appears before changing settings:
- StreamVoodoo room: Is the intended camera or participant feed visible there?
- Magic Link or browser source: Does the individual feed output appear when opened or loaded into your software?
- Broadcasting software: Does OBS or vMix show the expected video and audio input?
- YouTube Live Control Room: Does it report that no incoming signal has been received, or does it recognize the stream?
- Viewer playback: Can you see the live event, while another viewer cannot play it?
These states point to different parts of the route. Work through them in order rather than assuming that YouTube, StreamVoodoo, or one particular setting is at fault.

Trace the feed from StreamVoodoo to YouTube
1. Confirm the source in the StreamVoodoo room
Open the room and check that the intended camera or participant feed is present. If it is missing, verify that the browser has camera and microphone permission and that the correct devices are selected. StreamVoodoo’s published workflow uses rooms, participant feeds, and individual Magic Links; these checks isolate that first stage but are not a confirmed cure for a YouTube offline status.
2. Verify the feed’s Magic Link
Make sure the browser source or other receiving input uses the Magic Link for the feed you intend to broadcast. StreamVoodoo says an individual feed’s Magic Link can be used as a shareable stream or as a browser source in software such as OBS or vMix. If the room shows video but the receiving software does not, focus on this link and the software’s input rather than YouTube playback.

3. Check the broadcasting software and YouTube event
In the software receiving the Magic Link, confirm that the input is active and that the software is sending to the intended YouTube Live event. Check that the selected event and connection or stream key are the ones you expect. The available StreamVoodoo FAQ does not provide a StreamVoodoo-specific YouTube ingest-key guide or identify key mismatch as the cause of this symptom, so treat these as ordinary workflow checks, not a diagnosis.
Then look at the YouTube Live Control Room. If it reports no incoming signal, investigate the outgoing feed and the software-to-event handoff. If YouTube recognizes the incoming stream, but viewing fails, continue to playback checks instead.

4. Distinguish ingest trouble from viewer playback trouble
If the creator can see a healthy live event but a viewer cannot play it, have that viewer check their internet connection and data use, restart the connection or app or device, update the app or browser, and test without browser extensions that might interfere. If possible, ask another viewer to try the event; that helps distinguish a problem limited to one device or viewer from one affecting the event more broadly.
YouTube’s published approximate sustained-speed figures are for watching video, not encoder upload requirements: 20 Mbps for 4K playback, 5 Mbps for 1080p, 2.5 Mbps for 720p, 1.1 Mbps for 480p, and 0.7 Mbps for 360p. Do not use those playback numbers as your live encoder’s upload target.

Check StreamVoodoo’s feed settings and connection
StreamVoodoo’s FAQ says a room defaults to 720p and suggests 3 or 4 Mbps as standard, or 6 Mbps or higher when broadcasting. Those are StreamVoodoo’s stated feed-setting recommendations, not universal YouTube requirements. The FAQ also says Ethernet is required for its highest video qualities. If you are using one of those qualities over Wi-Fi, a wired connection is a reasonable stability check where available; it is not a guaranteed fix for YouTube showing offline.
If the room feed is visible but the outgoing feed or event is not, change one relevant setting at a time and check the same handoff again. Avoid treating YouTube’s playback-speed figures as upload settings or assuming that simply increasing bitrate will resolve a missing signal.

Common symptoms and what to check next
| What you see | Where to investigate |
|---|---|
| The participant or camera is absent in the room | Check browser camera and microphone permissions and the selected devices. |
| The room shows the feed, but the software input is blank | Confirm that the correct feed’s Magic Link is being used as the input. |
| The software shows the feed, but YouTube reports no incoming signal | Check that the software is outputting to the intended YouTube event and the expected connection or key. |
| YouTube recognizes the stream, but a viewer cannot watch | Test playback on another device or connection; update the app or browser and try without interfering extensions. |
| Only the highest-quality StreamVoodoo feed is unstable | Check the feed’s resolution and bitrate and consider Ethernet, which StreamVoodoo calls necessary for its highest video qualities. |
What to record before asking for help
Capture the exact status or error shown in YouTube Studio and note whether the room, Magic Link output, and broadcasting-software input each show video. Include the software you use, the YouTube event selected, whether YouTube recognizes an incoming signal, and whether another viewer can play the event. This narrows the failing handoff without presuming a single root cause.
The available official guidance explains StreamVoodoo’s room and feed workflow and YouTube’s playback troubleshooting, but does not directly diagnose this exact offline symptom. It does not establish that StreamVoodoo is down, that YouTube has an outage, or that one particular setting is responsible.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a different use case—keeping uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube channel rather than broadcasting a live camera—StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
