Choose Streamlabs Talk Studio if you want a browser-based studio to record a show or schedule an uploaded video as a YouTube stream. Choose Ecamm Live if you produce on a Mac and want scene controls, prerecorded clips as a source, local recording, or Ecamm Pro’s higher-resolution options. The key is to distinguish recording a show for later from scheduling a finished video or playing clips during a live production: they are different workflows.
First, decide what “prerecorded” means
These tools can fit three related but distinct jobs:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Record an episode now, then edit or upload it later. Talk Studio documents recording without going live; Ecamm lists automatic local recording.
- Schedule a finished video to play as a YouTube stream. Talk Studio documents an upload-and-schedule workflow. Its current Pro plan lists uploaded prerecorded streams up to two hours.
- Play prerecorded clips within a produced show. Ecamm lists prerecorded video as a source and YouTube Live as a destination. That is not the same as scheduling a complete video to run as a stream.
Decide which job matters most before comparing resolution or price. A feature listed for one workflow does not establish that the product handles another in the same way.
Where Streamlabs Talk Studio fits
Browser-based recording and guest shows
Streamlabs describes Talk Studio as a web-based recording and streaming studio that does not require a local software installation. Its documentation covers recording without going live, recording while streaming, and bringing guests into a browser-based production. The recording guide describes cloud recordings that include a complete recording and an audio-only download. It also describes local recordings with separate audio and video tracks for each participant; Streamlabs’ 2023 recording article says mobile devices are not supported for that local-recording option.

On the plans page accessed October 3, 2026, Standard allows up to five guests and up to four hours of recording or local recording per track. Pro allows up to 11 guests and up to ten hours per track. These are plan limits, not promises about recording quality or audience results.
Scheduling an uploaded video
Talk Studio’s documented prerecorded-stream flow is to upload a video, choose destinations, then set the title, description, date and time, and thumbnail. The current plans page lists uploads for prerecorded streams up to two hours on Pro. Treat that plan-page limit as the current cap; the older how-to guide explains the workflow but should not be used to infer a different upload allowance.

Where Ecamm Live fits
Mac-based production and playback
Ecamm is a Mac application; its feature comparison says it requires macOS 11.2 or newer. That comparison lists YouTube Live, prerecorded videos, automatic local recording, 1080p support, and Elgato Stream Deck integration. Ecamm’s grid lists 1440p and 4K streaming and recording, plus isolated audio/video recording, among selected Pro features. Those feature labels do not make Ecamm’s recording tracks interchangeable with Talk Studio’s per-participant local tracks.
A Stream Deck is an optional physical-control accessory for creators who want buttons for production actions; Ecamm lists integration, but a particular model is not required by the cited product documentation.

Ecamm’s 4K requirements
In support guidance dated May 20, 2026, Ecamm says 4K streaming and recording requires Ecamm Pro or an Ecamm trial. Its stated requirements for 4K streaming include an M1 Mac or newer and at least 24 Mbps upload speed. Ecamm also said in that article, “At this time, YouTube is the only streaming platform that we’ve tested.” That describes Ecamm’s testing as of the article date, not an independent compatibility assessment. Check Ecamm’s current guidance and your Mac and connection before planning a 4K production.

Keep a scheduled stream running without a computer
If your goal is specifically to keep an uploaded video looping as a 24/7 YouTube stream, that is a separate job from recording an episode or producing a show with clips. StreamNeo is a cloud service for YouTube: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It is not a camera-based live studio and streams to YouTube only.
Or let it run in the cloud
Upload your video or playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo’s plans include one always-on stream per slot, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and team support; the same product is included on every plan, with billing length varying. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free first day.
