Streamlabs Talk Studio is a browser-based studio for live shows and recordings with remote guests, screen sharing, and on-screen branding. Its Standard and Pro plans differ in resolution, guest limits, destinations, recording allowances, and production tools. It is a fit to consider if you want to produce a guest-based show without installing desktop broadcasting software; compare the plan limits with your workflow before subscribing.
What is Streamlabs Talk Studio?
Talk Studio runs in a web browser and brings together a host, guests, screen sharing, layouts, live broadcasting, and recording. Streamlabs’ product page lists Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and other destinations. Its getting-started guide describes signing in with a Streamlabs account, granting camera and microphone permissions, configuring a destination and layout, inviting guests, then broadcasting or recording.

The product was previously called Melon. In a May 15, 2023 announcement, Streamlabs said it was changing Melon’s name to Streamlabs Talk Studio “to help unify all our tools,” and said the change would not alter features or functionality at that time. That announcement explains the name history; it should not be read as a guarantee about every current feature.
How much does Talk Studio cost, and what do the plans include?
Streamlabs’ plan page, accessed October 3, 2026, lists Standard at $9 per month or $7.50 per month when billed annually ($90 per year), and Pro at $17 per month or $12 per month when billed annually ($145 per year). Prices, trial eligibility, and subscription terms can change; check the current plan page before purchase. The page advertises a seven-day trial, but verify eligibility and terms for your account.

Streamlabs’ plan page also describes unlimited streaming for both tiers. The table distinguishes stated plan features; it does not establish how they perform under a particular network or production setup. Talk Studio Pro is listed as included with Streamlabs Ultra.
Choose based on the constraints that affect your show: Standard has one destination and 720p, while Pro raises the listed resolution to 1080p and adds unlimited destinations, more guests, longer track allowances, storage, branding, and collaboration features. Streamlabs’ current page lists paid Standard and Pro plans, so older references to a permanent free Talk Studio tier may be outdated.
What do you need to get started?
Streamlabs’ getting-started guide says installation is not required and recommends Google Chrome or Safari. It calls for at least 5 Mbps upload. Its recommendations are 5 Mbps required and 10 Mbps recommended for 720p, and 10 Mbps required and 20 Mbps recommended for 1080p. These are Streamlabs’ published recommendations, not independently validated performance thresholds.

- Integrated Privacy Cover & Rugged Design - The 4K webcam for streaming boasts a built-in privacy cover right on the lens, ensuring it won't accidentally open or get touched. Crafted with meticulous engineering, every component of the S600, from the clips to the joints, is designed for durability and stability. - Sign in and allow devices. Open Talk Studio in a supported browser, sign in to your Streamlabs account, and grant access to the camera and microphone you intend to use.
- Set the destination. Connect or configure the platform where you plan to broadcast. Standard is listed for one destination; Pro supports multistreaming to unlimited destinations.
- Build the scene. Choose a layout, add screen sharing or cameras as needed, and configure branding and on-screen text.
- Invite guests. Send an invitation link or email. Guests who arrive wait in a queue; move each guest from the queue onto the show when ready.
- Check the show, then broadcast or record. Confirm the selected camera, microphone, layout, and guest audio before going live or starting a recording.
The guide says co-hosts can invite guests, control design elements, adjust layouts, and change configurations. That can help distribute show-production tasks, but the plan page lists co-host seats under Pro, up to five.
How do recording and local tracks work?
Streamlabs’ recording guide describes cloud recording, with an audio-only file also available, and local recording, which separates audio and video tracks by participant. Separate tracks can give an editor more control over individual voices and video during post-production. The guide says mobile devices are not supported for local recording.
There are two different ways the official materials express recording limits: the plan page gives up to four hours per track on Standard and ten hours per track on Pro; the recording guide gives four hours per session on Standard and ten hours per session on Pro. Check the current interface and plan terms for the limit that applies to your recording mode.

| Plan | Published features relevant to comparison | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Talk Studio Standard | 720p; one destination; up to five guests; recording and local recording up to four hours per track | $9/month, or $7.50/month billed annually ($90/year) |
| Talk Studio Pro | 1080p; unlimited destinations; up to eleven guests; recording and local recording up to ten hours per track; 30-day recording storage | $17/month, or $12/month billed annually ($145/year) |
| StreamYard Free | Six on-screen participants; two hours of local recording per month | not stated on the current pricing page |
| StreamYard Core | 1080p; multistreaming to three destinations; ten on-screen participants; unlimited local recordings | Prices subject to promotion and renewal terms; check StreamYard’s pricing page |
| StreamYard Advanced | Multistreaming to eight destinations; 4K local recordings; an extra camera; up to fifteen backstage participants | Prices subject to promotion and renewal terms; check StreamYard’s pricing page |
These are not identical measures: Talk Studio describes guest counts, while StreamYard’s page uses on-screen or backstage participant counts. The pages also do not state matching recording-duration or storage details for every StreamYard tier. Compare the exact allowance you need rather than treating similarly named features as equivalent.
Talk Studio Pro lists unlimited multistream destinations; StreamYard Core lists three and Advanced lists eight. Standard lists one destination. For a single-destination show, guest capacity, recording workflow, and branding may matter more than the maximum destination count. For a show distributed to several platforms, destination limits become a primary plan constraint.
Neither product’s feature page establishes which studio is easier, more reliable, or produces better output quality. The available product specifications support a comparison of listed workflows and limits, not a conclusion based on independent performance testing.

Streamlabs Talk Studio alternatives for always-on YouTube video
Talk Studio is designed around producing a live show or recording with people, cameras, and screen sharing. If the goal is instead to keep a YouTube channel live around the clock using uploaded videos, that is a different workflow. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for that specific use: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
To use StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded video; it does not broadcast a live camera feed. Because it runs in the cloud, your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It includes 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. Every plan includes the same product; only the billing length changes.
StreamNeo’s current listed options are Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account; billing can be for a day, week, month, six months, or year, and you can cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
