Streamlabs Multistream lets you send a live broadcast to multiple platforms at once. Its full multistreaming feature is tied to Streamlabs Ultra, while Streamlabs says its free Dual Output option can send one horizontal and one vertical version to a destination for each format. The service offers cloud forwarding and several ways to start a stream, but chat actions vary by platform and the available material does not establish independent performance benchmarks. This is a source-based feature review, not a hands-on test.
What Streamlabs Multistream does
Streamlabs describes Multistream as a way to broadcast one live stream to multiple destinations at the same time. Its current product page lists Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Patreon, X (Twitter), Instagram, and additional destinations through custom RTMP connections. Actual availability can depend on platform rules, account eligibility, and how you connect.

Streamlabs says its servers receive one stream and forward it to the destinations you select. In the company’s description, this differs from locally encoding and uploading separate outputs for every service. That architecture may reduce the number of separate outbound feeds your connection needs to send, but the product page does not provide independent measurements of bandwidth, CPU, GPU, reliability, or stream quality.
What is free and what requires Ultra?
| Option | What Streamlabs says it includes | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Dual Output | One horizontal and one vertical output, with one platform per canvas, at no cost. | This is not unlimited simultaneous destination streaming. |
| Full Multistream | Streaming to multiple destinations; Streamlabs’ setup documentation says Ultra users can choose as many destinations as they want. | Full multistreaming is an Ultra feature. Current pricing and exact plan terms are not established by the cited product and setup pages. |
Dual Output is useful if you want a landscape presentation for one service and a portrait presentation for another, rather than sending one identical layout everywhere. Streamlabs also describes separate horizontal and vertical canvases. It says its Stream Shift feature can move an active stream between PC and mobile or another computer without ending the stream; this is a company-described capability, not an independently verified result.

Destinations, software, and setup workflow
Streamlabs lists Streamlabs Desktop, its OBS plugin, Streamlabs Mobile, and dashboard-generated RTMP settings for use with other streaming software. The specific steps depend on the route and destination, but the general desktop setup documented by Streamlabs is:
- Link the accounts for the platforms you plan to use in Streamlabs Desktop.
- Open the Go Live window and select the destinations you want to broadcast to.
- Set platform-specific details in advanced settings. Streamlabs says title and description can be shared, while categories may need to be selected separately because platforms have different game libraries.
- Check each destination’s account eligibility, stream settings, and any required connection or key before going live. If using another streaming application, use the RTMP settings generated in the Streamlabs dashboard as directed by Streamlabs.
For basic Streamlabs Desktop device setup, the official guide says users can select a microphone and add external audio equipment; neither a particular microphone nor external audio gear is a multistream requirement.

Chat support is useful, but not uniform
Streamlabs’ product page describes these Multichat capabilities:

Pros and limitations
Potential advantages
- One broadcast can reach several audiences. This can help a creator explore where an existing show finds viewers, although multistreaming by itself does not guarantee audience growth.
- Cloud forwarding may reduce separate outbound uploads. This is Streamlabs’ explanation of its routing design, not an independently benchmarked performance advantage.
- Several access routes are available. Streamlabs lists its desktop application, OBS plugin, mobile app, and custom RTMP configuration.
- Dual Output has a free use case. Streamlabs says it supports one horizontal and one vertical destination without Ultra.
- Some chat is centralized. The supported read/post combinations are limited and differ by service.
Limitations to weigh
- Full multistreaming requires Ultra. The sources cited here do not establish a current price, so check Streamlabs’ current plan information before subscribing.
- Platform eligibility remains your responsibility. A destination may require an eligible account or particular stream access; TikTok dual-format streaming, for example, depends on meeting TikTok’s own requirements.
- Chat is not uniformly interactive. Some listed destinations are read-only in Multichat.
- Contracts may restrict simulcasting. Streamlabs tells Twitch Affiliates and Partners to review their contracts because some cases may require exclusivity. Whether that applies depends on your own agreement; this review cannot determine your obligations.
- Performance claims are not independently established here. The available official product information does not supply comparative CPU, GPU, bandwidth, uptime, or quality test results.
Does multistreaming help grow an audience?
Streaming on more than one service gives viewers more places to find a broadcast, and it can let a creator compare how audiences respond across platforms. It does not ensure that viewers will discover, watch, or return to a channel; distribution, content, consistency, and platform-specific rules still matter.
Streamlabs promotes an undated statistic that new creators who multistream are twice as likely to reach five or more concurrent viewers. Its product page qualifies this as applying to new users who had streamed for up to six months and multistreamed at least seven times. The page does not provide a publication date or methodology for that figure, so it should be treated as Streamlabs’ promotional claim, not independent evidence that Multistream causes growth.

Who is Streamlabs Multistream best suited to?
It is a plausible fit for a creator who already has eligible accounts on several services, wants one workflow to select multiple destinations, or has a use for both portrait and landscape output. The cloud-forwarding design may also be attractive if you want to avoid separately uploading multiple feeds from your own connection, though no measured savings are established here.
It is a less obvious fit if most of your audience is already concentrated on one platform, you need two-way chat everywhere, or you have not checked the platform rules and contracts that govern your accounts. Before paying for Ultra, confirm the destinations you need, their current eligibility requirements, the chat functions you depend on, and current plan terms.
