Both are mobile tools for live capture and encoding, so do not choose either on the assumption that it can play a video file into a broadcast. They do not establish a workflow for selecting a locally stored video file and using that file as the live video source. Overlays, scenes or the ability to send a stream to YouTube do not by themselves demonstrate file playback.

If this is a must-have, check the current app’s source options on your device before planning a broadcast. Confirm that the video file can be selected as the actual stream source, that audio plays as expected, and that the stream behaves correctly in a private or unlisted test. Do not infer file-input support from a separate app or feature.
Can Larix Broadcaster play a video file into a YouTube live stream?
Softvelum documents Larix Broadcaster as a live video and audio streaming encoder, including a YouTube RTMP connection method. The cited documentation does not confirm local prerecorded-file input in Broadcaster. Larix Player is a separate playback application and should not be treated as proof that Broadcaster can play a local video into an outgoing stream.

Larix may suit a user who needs encoder-oriented protocol control for a live source, but that is a different requirement from playing a stored file. Verify the current Broadcaster version’s input options directly if you are considering it for prerecorded playback.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Streamlabs Mobile for a live mobile broadcast if you want an integrated creator workflow with scenes, alerts, widgets and chat features. Mobile multistreaming in the cited support article requires Ultra or rewards redemption.
- Choose Larix Broadcaster for a live encoder workflow if protocol choice and a configurable RTMP/RTMPS-style output are central to your setup. Advanced features may differ by platform and may require premium access.
- Choose neither without testing if your defining requirement is a local prerecorded video file as the source. The cited official documentation does not settle that capability for either app.
Connect a mobile encoder to YouTube safely

- Confirm your YouTube Live access. Check YouTube’s current encoder instructions and account status before scheduling a broadcast. Eligibility or account-specific restrictions may apply. See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Choose the destination and enter stream details. In Streamlabs, select YouTube or a custom RTMP destination and configure the title, description, thumbnail and privacy settings in the mobile workflow. For Larix, use YouTube’s current server/application URL and stream key as specified in the Larix documentation.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not share it or expose it in a public screenshot or recording. Use the current YouTube account controls if you need to change or reset it.
- Run a controlled test. Confirm picture, sound, orientation and privacy before a public stream. If the intended source is a prerecorded file, make sure the app actually offers file input; a successful RTMP connection only proves that the encoder can send a stream.
Copyright and YouTube policy checks for prerecorded video
A file playing successfully does not mean you have permission to broadcast it. Before streaming, confirm you own or have the necessary rights to the video, music and other included material. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility and account restrictions can change, so check its current Help guidance before going live. Repeated or reused material can also raise separate channel-monetization questions; technical ability to stream is not a guarantee of monetization or policy compliance.
If the setup does not work
- You cannot find a local video source: the cited official pages do not establish local-file input. Check the current app version’s source choices or use a documented playback-and-encoder workflow instead of assuming a camera encoder can play files.
