How performance compares
The main confirmed PC advantage is control: PlayStation lists unlocked frame rates alongside DLSS 4 and FSR 3 support. That creates more room to tune a capable PC for its display, but it does not guarantee a higher frame rate than PS5. Results depend on the graphics card, processor, resolution, settings, and use of upscaling or frame generation.

PlayStation’s PC requirements page publishes target configurations, and its 2025 launch announcement includes average-performance target figures for multiple configurations. The available announcement excerpt does not reliably show all configuration labels, so those figures should not be treated as a directly comparable test or assigned to a particular graphics card. No controlled PC-versus-PS5 benchmark was verified, and the reviewed PS5 listing does not provide current mode-by-mode output figures.

For a decision based on performance alone, compare your PC against the official requirements below and consider the resolution and frame rate you want. Do not assume that “PC” automatically means better performance, or that a publisher target is a guaranteed result on every system.

These are PlayStation’s listed targets. If your PC is close to minimum, the listed 1080p Low target is the relevant starting point; do not assume a higher preset or resolution without checking how your hardware performs.
PC features that can tip the decision
Ultrawide and unusual aspect ratios
PlayStation lists PC support for aspect ratios from 4:5 to 32:9. If you play on an ultrawide monitor—or need a less common aspect ratio—that is a concrete reason to favor PC over the documented PS5 feature set.

Upscaling and frame generation
The PC feature list names NVIDIA DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3. These are the technologies confirmed by PlayStation’s listing; the reviewed PS5 store page marks PS5 Pro Enhanced but does not explain the specific rendering implementation. Avoid assuming that it uses the same features or that its results are directly comparable.
Unlocked frame rates and higher texture resolution
PC offers an unlocked frame-rate option and higher texture resolution according to PlayStation. Unlocked does not mean unlimited in practice: your components and chosen settings determine the output your system can deliver.
Controller features: DualSense works on both
DualSense is not exclusive to the console version. PlayStation lists haptics and adaptive triggers for PC as well as PS5. On PC, some supported haptics, trigger, and microphone features may require USB, so check the official PC page if those details affect your setup. The PS5 listing also identifies vibration, trigger effects, and Tempest 3D AudioTech.

Editions, launch dates, and prices
Stellar Blade launched on PS5 on April 26, 2024. PlayStation announced the PC launch for June 11, 2025.
At the time checked on October 4, 2026, the US PlayStation Store listed the PS5 Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Complete Edition at $89.99. These are US storefront prices, not global pricing, and may change. The current PC prices were not verified, though PlayStation links to Steam and Epic Games Store.
PlayStation’s PC Complete Edition page lists the base game, Planet Diving Suit (Captain), Fluffy Bear Pack for the Drone, Stargazer cosmetic items and in-game bonus currency, the Twin Expansion Pack (Stellar Blade x NieR:Automata and Stellar Blade x GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE), and a time-limited NIKKE mobile-game outfit key. The US PS5 Complete Edition listing includes the game, Digital Deluxe content, Twin Expansion Pack, outfit key, Planet Diving Suit (Captain), and Fluffy Bear Pack. Confirm the live listing for your region before paying, particularly if a particular bonus matters to you.
The PlayStation Blog announcement says new launch outfits were also released on PS5 as an update. That does not establish that every bonus or piece of content is identical between all editions and platforms.
Which version should you buy?
Buy the PC version if…
- Your Windows PC meets the requirements, especially if you are aiming beyond the minimum 1080p Low target.
- You want unlocked frame rates, ultrawide aspect ratios, higher texture resolution, or the listed DLSS 4 and FSR 3 support.
- You prefer buying through Steam or the Epic Games Store.
- You are comfortable checking system requirements and adjusting settings to suit your PC.
Buy the PS5 version if…
- You already own a PS5 and value a ready-to-play console setup.
- You prefer DualSense integration and a living-room console experience.
- Your local PS Store price or edition contents make more sense for you than the PC option.
- You have a PS5 Pro and want to consider the store’s PS5 Pro Enhanced designation, without assuming a specific performance gain that the listing does not quantify.
Before buying either version, compare the price and included content in your own region. The US PS Store figures above are time- and region-specific; current PC storefront prices were not verified.
