When does the Steam free weekend end?
The listed Squad 44 promotion ends Monday, October 12, 2026, at 10 AM Pacific Time. The time is Pacific Time, not necessarily the time shown on your local clock. Steamworks says Free Weekends typically run from Thursday at 10 AM Pacific to Monday at 10 AM Pacific, but that general pattern is not a substitute for the schedule in an individual event announcement. Steam also notes that promotions may be spaced apart to avoid overlapping events. See Valve’s Steamworks Free Weekends documentation.

What does “Free Weekend” mean on Steam?
A Steam Free Weekend is a time-limited promotion that lets players temporarily access and play an eligible game for free. Steamworks describes it as a promotion typically held over a long four-day weekend. It provides access to the base game through its current app ID; a demo is a separate build with a separate demo app ID. A Free Weekend is also different from a free-to-play game, which remains available at no cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you keep playing after the promotion?
No. When the event ends, Steam removes the temporary free package from the store page. The game may remain visible in your Steam library, but you can only uninstall it; continued play requires purchasing the full version. The promotion is a trial window, not a claim-to-keep giveaway.
