Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSteam Deck accessories are a waste of money when they duplicate gear you already own, solve no problem in your setup, or don’t fit your model. A dock, extra case, screen protector, power bank, or premium earbuds can be useful—but none is an automatic purchase. Start with the one limitation you want to fix, then buy only the accessory that addresses it.
How to tell whether a Steam Deck accessory is worth buying
Before adding anything to your cart, ask three questions:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- What specific problem will it solve? For example, a dock can connect the Deck to an external display; it does little for someone who plays only in handheld mode.
- Do you already have something that does the job? The Deck includes a carrying case, and a compatible charger or headphones you own may be enough for your needs.
- Will it fit your device and setup? Check the exact Deck model, any protective shell, and the ports or features you plan to use.
If you can’t name a real need, skipping the accessory is the safer choice. That does not make the category useless; it means its value depends on how you use the Deck.

A dock for handheld-only play
A dock makes sense if you want to use a TV or monitor, connect desktop peripherals, or keep the Deck arranged at a desk. If you play exclusively on the built-in screen, it may sit unused. The key question is not whether a dock is useful in general, but whether you will use its connections.

For a dock you are considering, check the features against your setup:
- Video output for the display you intend to connect
- USB ports for your peripherals
- Ethernet only if you need a wired network connection
- Power delivery and whether a charger is included
- Physical clearance for your protective case
- An SSD slot only if you actually need extra dock-based storage
Dock models trade features differently: a budget option may omit Ethernet or a bundled charger, while a more capable dock may include ports you never use. Compare the connections and case fit, not just the price. The PCGamesN accessory guide and PC Gamer’s accessory roundup describe different options and trade-offs; current prices and availability can change.

A second carrying case that adds nothing
The Steam Deck comes with a carrying case, so buying another one is optional. A replacement can be worthwhile if you need different travel protection, more storage, or a shape that works with your installed protective shell. If your current case already carries and protects the Deck as you need, another case is duplication rather than an upgrade. Confirm that a replacement fits your exact device and shell.

A low price does not guarantee a good fit, and a premium price does not guarantee one either. SlashGear reported customer complaints about some generic protectors extending beyond screen edges or failing to adhere properly. Before buying, verify the exact Deck model and screen dimensions, then look for credible feedback about edge alignment and adhesion. A protector is most useful if its added protection matters for how you handle or transport your device.

A power bank when you usually play near an outlet
If you rarely play away from power, a power bank may add cost and bulk without solving a problem. It is more relevant for travel or other sessions away from outlets. Valve’s specifications, as reported by SlashGear, list a 45W AC adapter and a 40Wh battery; those device figures do not establish a universal minimum power-bank output or guarantee a particular number of recharges.

- Perfect Fit for OLED & LCD: Precision-engineered for both Steam Deck OLED (2023/2024+) and the original LCD model. The sleek design ensures 100% access to all buttons, triggers, and the updated OLED power button, providing a seamless handheld experience without adding unnecessary bulk.
- 360° Shield with Detachable Front Cover: Beyond a standard back shell, this kit includes a removable hard front cover. It snaps on securely to safeguard your thumbsticks and premium OLED screen from scratches and pressure, allowing you to toss your Deck into a backpack without a bulky carrying case.
- Modular Metal Kickstand: Features a detachable metal bracket that slides easily onto the back of the case. Unlike flimsy built-in stands, our zinc alloy stand provides rock-solid support for tabletop gaming and can be removed when you want to keep the device lightweight for handheld play.
- Versatile Accessory Strap: The included modular silicone strap allows you to customize your setup. Securely attach a power bank, a USB-C hub, or even the JSAUX cooling fan to the back of your Steam Deck. It’s the ultimate DIY solution for pro gamers who need extended battery life or extra connectivity.
- Impact-Resistant & Ergonomic Grip: Constructed from eco-friendly PC-ABS and shock-absorbent TPU. The textured edges provide a superior grip, reducing hand fatigue during long sessions. Includes an 12-month warranty and 24/7 customer support, ensuring your gaming investment is well-protected.
When comparing banks, check USB-C Power Delivery output and capacity against your intended use. PC Gamer describes the Zendure X5 as supporting 45W Power Delivery and reports that its reviewed unit provided around one and one-third full charges. That is a result for PC Gamer’s tested product, not a promise for other banks or conditions. SlashGear’s warning about low-output banks is guidance, not a guarantee that every lower-output option will perform the same way in every charging scenario.
Premium audio features you won’t use
Headphones or earbuds can be useful for private listening, but expensive gaming audio is not a Steam Deck requirement. Consider whether you need a particular sound feature, microphone, or fit, and whether you will find the device comfortable. Comfort varies by person, and paying more does not ensure a better fit for you. If your existing headphones meet your needs, a premium pair may simply duplicate what you already have.

When an accessory is a sensible purchase
More storage when your library exceeds internal capacity
A microSD card is a practical option if your installed game library needs more room. PCGamesN’s guide, updated April 17, 2026, includes the Samsung Pro Plus among its recommended accessories. That is a conditional recommendation, not a claim that every owner needs a card. If internal storage is sufficient, you can skip it; otherwise, compare capacity and price and verify that the specific listing is compatible with your Deck.
A dock for a real external-screen setup
If you regularly want a TV or monitor, peripherals, or a dedicated desk arrangement, a dock can solve a clear problem. Choose around the display output, ports, power delivery, and case fit you need; avoid paying for an Ethernet port, SSD slot, or other feature without a use for it.
Protection or charging for your actual routine
An alternate case, screen protector, or power bank can be worth buying when it addresses a concrete travel, handling, or charging need. Check fit and specifications before purchase, and don’t treat any accessory’s price or broad category label as proof that it will work for your particular setup.

- Problem: Can you state what limitation this accessory fixes?
- Duplication: Does the Deck already include it, or do you own something that works?
- Compatibility: Does it fit your Deck model and any case or shell you use?
- Features: Are you paying for ports, storage, output, or audio features you will use?
- Evidence: For physical accessories, do the listing and credible feedback support the fit you need?
- Cost: Is the benefit worth the full price for your use, rather than merely appealing because the item is discounted?
