A report dated 6 October 2026 says Starlink had seven operational ground-station sites in Spain. It names locations across six provinces, but the count and list come from a secondary report, not an official Spanish inventory. The figure is best read as a dated report, not a confirmed government census.
How many Starlink ground stations are there in Spain?
NeoTeo reported seven operational Starlink ground-station sites in an October 2026 snapshot. No official Starlink or Spanish government inventory confirming that exact count was identified, so the seven-site figure should be attributed to the report rather than treated as independently verified. What does a Starlink ground station do?
A ground station is network infrastructure on Earth that links satellite communications with terrestrial networks. It is different from the user terminal installed at a customer’s home. Spain’s Ministry for Digital Transformation groups earth stations, gateways, user terminals and other space-service infrastructure within its ground-segment authorization procedures. Those procedures explain the regulatory framework; they are not a public inventory confirming the status of any particular Starlink site. The ministry cites the General Telecommunications Law 11/2022 and Royal Decree 123/2017 as relevant rules. Spain’s ground-segment authorization information

Why is Starlink adding ground stations?
The reported expansion sits within a growing, though still small, satellite-broadband market in Spain. The CNMC reported just over 10,000 satellite internet connections at the end of 2022 and about 100,000 at the end of 2025. That was approximately 0.5% of all fixed broadband connections, with satellite remaining particularly relevant in rural and remote areas. These market figures describe satellite connections overall, not Starlink subscribers specifically. CNMC market figures
The CNMC also says nearly 90% of satellite connections fall in the 100–300 Mbps range. It notes that low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites operate at lower altitudes than traditional geostationary satellites, which reduces latency. The figures characterize the satellite market; they are not a performance guarantee for a particular Starlink plan, user, or location. CNMC information on satellite speeds and latency

- Ideal for Rural and Remote Areas: Perfect for homes, cabins, RVs, boats, and off-grid setups where wired internet isn’t available.
The available sources do not establish why each Spanish site was selected or what effect any individual station has on network capacity. The count alone cannot show whether a particular area will receive faster service.
Does a ground station mean Starlink is available at my address?
No. A nearby reported ground station does not confirm retail availability at a specific address. Check Starlink’s current service availability for the exact location and consider the service terms, equipment and installation requirements, advertised speeds and latency, and total cost. The Spanish equipment registry records approval for the Starlink Standard Kit on 21 May 2025, with an expiry date of 21 May 2030; that is a customer user terminal, not a ground station or proof of local service availability. Where satellite connectivity is used beyond home broadband
The CNMC identifies maritime and aviation communications, business connectivity, IoT, government services and emergency communications among satellite applications. It also reported a temporary direct-to-device service involving Starlink, Orange and Telefónica during Spain’s July 2026 wildfires. That emergency example is distinct from a permanent residential broadband offer. CNMC overview of satellite applications CNMC report on the July 2026 emergency service
Starlink is not the only satellite operator or prospective operator named by the CNMC in the Spanish market; its list includes OneWeb/Eutelsat, Amazon Leo, Viasat, Hispasat and Iridium. Their presence in that list does not mean they offer identical services or are available at the same locations.
