The StarFive VisionFive 2 Lite is a compact RISC-V single-board computer for industrial and embedded projects, with maker and education uses also listed by StarFive. Its 85 × 56 mm board carries a quad-core JH-7110S processor, up to 8 GB of memory, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and a 40-pin GPIO header. StarFive positions it as a lower-cost, lightweight member of the VisionFive 2 family, but a current regional price and a like-for-like Raspberry Pi performance comparison are not established.
What is the VisionFive 2 Lite?
StarFive calls the board “a RISC-V single board computer designed specifically for industrial and embedded deployments.” The company also lists IIoT, edge computing, embedded development, education, smart-home hubs and lightweight home servers as potential uses. That is a statement of intended markets, not evidence that every application is supported or that the board is certified for a particular industrial environment.
StarFive announced worldwide sales on December 15, 2025, and its launch page links to global e-commerce channels including Waveshare, AliExpress and Amazon Japan. Those links do not establish present stock or pricing in every country. StarFive describes the Lite as a smaller, lightweight version within the VisionFive 2 family; the published board dimensions are 85 × 56 mm.

What can you use the VisionFive 2 Lite for?
Edge gateways and embedded control
Gigabit Ethernet, wireless connectivity and GPIO functions such as CAN, I2C, SPI and UART make the board’s published interface set relevant to gateway and control prototypes. Whether it suits a specific deployment depends on the required drivers, software stack, environmental conditions and validation; the specification alone does not establish production readiness.

Camera and display projects
MIPI CSI camera input and MIPI DSI display output offer interfaces for embedded vision and display experiments, while HDMI provides a conventional monitor connection. The listed video encode and decode limits describe supported capabilities, not a guarantee of smooth performance for every codec, application or workload.
Learning and general-purpose projects
StarFive names education, smart-home hubs and lightweight home servers among the possible uses. As with any less-established platform, first confirm that the operating system, application, peripheral drivers and required graphics or camera features work for your particular project.

How does it compare with a Raspberry Pi?
The Lite has a compact single-board-computer form factor, but resemblance in size or layout is not evidence of equivalent software maturity, performance, accessory support or price. The available specifications do not establish a fair performance comparison with a particular Raspberry Pi model.
For a meaningful board-to-board decision, compare the exact model and configuration against these requirements:

Software support and compatibility
The VisionFive 2 Lite quick-start guide lists Ubuntu and Debian support. StarFive’s launch article also names OpenHarmony and says software ecosystems built on VisionFive 2 can migrate to Lite. Treat migration as the manufacturer’s compatibility claim: it does not establish that every application, driver, peripheral or distribution will work identically without changes.
Before committing a project, check the current documentation for the particular operating system and hardware interfaces you plan to use. The product brief and quick-start guide provide the starting point for the published specifications and setup information.

Where to buy and what to check first
StarFive’s launch page links to Waveshare, AliExpress and Amazon Japan. Availability, seller, configuration, price and bundle contents can differ by region and change over time, so check the listing itself rather than assuming a linked retailer has stock or that accessories are included.
Quick Recap
- Confirm whether the board has 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB of memory and whether it is the TF-card or eMMC storage configuration you need.
- For TF-card configurations, obtain a compatible TF/microSD card if one is not included.
- If you plan to use the M.2 socket, verify that the intended M.2 2242 device is compatible.
- Check whether a USB-C supply rated for the specified 5 V / 3 A input is included.
- For PoE, budget for a compatible PoE HAT; PoE is not provided by the board alone.
