Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch worldwide on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its official materials promise an underground Outer Rim racing league, four kinds of craft, a story campaign and competitive multiplayer—but whether it is a fantastic racer or captures the galaxy’s weirdness in play remains unproven before release. What is Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a new racing game from Fuse Games, made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Steam names Secret Mode as publisher. The game was announced at The Game Awards 2025, and the announced worldwide release date is October 6, 2026. StarWars.com’s announcement and the Steam listing identify PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC as its platforms.

The story takes place after the Empire’s fall, while the New Republic is rebuilding. In the Outer Rim, syndicates bankroll the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit. Players take the role of Shade, a lone racer pursuing revenge and glory, with a chance to become an elite racing pilot. That premise gives the game room to use the scrappy, strange corners of Star Wars rather than focusing only on familiar starfighters; how well it does so is something players will be able to judge in the finished game.

Official descriptions call it a “runs-based” racer. They point to escalating challenges, risk-and-reward choices, rival takedowns and vehicle building and customization. The campaign is described as a story of shifting alliances, alongside strategic PvP grudge matches. These are announced features, not independently verified impressions of handling, balance or campaign quality. The official gameplay reveal offers a look at the intended style.

Four craft classes
The announced vehicles are landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers. Official copy says the craft have distinct physics and playstyles, and that racing can earn parts, tools and upgrades. The game’s official website also describes vehicle customization.
Tracks across the galaxy
The gameplay reveal identifies several locations: Sentinel One’s volcanic surface, Jakku’s dusty sands, Ando Prime’s ice and Lantaana’s jungle. That range suggests the game is drawing on varied Star Wars environments, but the available official descriptions do not establish how many tracks there will be in total.

There is a minor naming discrepancy in the Deluxe vehicle list: the official game site calls the skim speeder “Rac S,” while Steam’s listing spells it “Rak S.” The official game site uses “Rac S.”

What is known about accessibility?
The PS5 listing describes subtitle and caption options, large text, color alternatives, high-contrast visuals, visual comfort settings to remove some camera movement and effects, mono audio, visual cue alternatives, basic control remapping, adjustable stick settings, advanced adjustable difficulty and the ability to pause offline. These details are specific to the PlayStation listing; they do not establish that the same settings will be available on other platforms or in the final release. The official pitch has appealing ingredients: an unsanctioned Outer Rim league, a protagonist with a revenge-driven story, unusual craft classes and tracks ranging from ice to jungle. But promotional descriptions and trailers cannot establish whether the racing feels good, the campaign delivers, or PvP remains enjoyable over time. Those judgments require the released game and independent play. Until then, “fantastic” and “captures the wonderful weirdness” are hopes to test, not settled verdicts.
