2001: A Space Odyssey star-child model
The model of the star-child, also described as a cosmic foetus, appears in the film’s final scene. The Guardian reported that it is predicted to fetch as much as £800,000. That is a reported forecast, not a confirmed estimate or a sale result. Bonhams’ head of popular culture, Claire Tole-Moir, called it “the final, enigmatic image” of the film and said it represents “evolution, new beginnings, naivety and ambiguity.”

A special-effects axe wielded by Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance is reported with an estimate of £30,000–£50,000, according to The Guardian. The report says the axe is also used as the murder weapon against Dick Hallorann. Two sky-blue dresses worn by the Grady twins are also among the reported items. The tricycle associated with the film’s corridor scene is not included in the sale, The Guardian notes.
