These are published minimums—not a confirmed final, standalone specification sheet for Squadron 42. RSI says the game is still in development and is not available to download.
Squadron 42 minimum system requirements published by RSI
RSI’s Game and Launcher Requirements page, updated December 17, 2025, gives shared requirements for its games rather than a separate final specification for Squadron 42.

RSI says it “strongly recommend[s] having a system with these minimums to effectively install, load, and play the games.” That is not a promise of a particular frame rate or graphical setting.
What to check on your PC
Processor: check instruction support, not just core count
A quad-core processor does not automatically qualify. RSI specifically requires support for AVX, AVX2, and FMA3, in addition to the core count. Its Intel and AMD examples are generation guidance; verify your exact CPU model and instruction-set support before treating it as compatible.

Graphics: 4 GB is a memory threshold, not a performance guarantee
The published requirement pairs DirectX 11.1 support with 4 GB of graphics memory. It does not establish a Squadron 42-specific benchmark, target resolution, or expected frame rate, so those figures alone cannot predict how smoothly a particular card will run the finished game.
Memory: 16 GB or more
Systems below 16 GB do not meet RSI’s published minimum. The page does not state a recommended amount above 16 GB for Squadron 42.

Storage: distinguish the listed SSD figures
RSI lists an SSD with 150+ GB for its shared game requirements. The same page separately recommends an NTFS-formatted drive with at least 100 GB for the RSI Launcher and Star Citizen installation, plus an additional 10 GB of SSD space for the pagefile. It does not explain how those separate figures relate to storage for a future Squadron 42 installation, so do not add them together as a definitive game-space total. The requirement specifies an SSD, not NVMe or a particular brand.

RSI currently says it does not support Linux or macOS. Its page also lists Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5.2 and network port ranges TCP 8000–8020 and UDP 64090–64110 under “also recommend”; these are not CPU or graphics-card minimums.

Can your PC run Squadron 42 now?
Not yet: RSI’s Get Started: Checklist, updated April 16, 2026, says the single-player campaign is still in development and not yet available. Its download guidance, updated February 4, 2026, likewise says Squadron 42 is in development and cannot be downloaded. RSI says qualifying accounts will be able to download and play after development is complete, the game has been tested, and it has been released.
That means the requirements above are useful for checking whether a PC meets RSI’s currently published shared minimums, but they cannot confirm performance in the released campaign. RSI has not published a separate final Squadron 42 minimum or recommended specification in the cited guidance, and the requirements may change before launch.

How to assess an upgrade
- CPU: confirm the model is quad-core and supports AVX, AVX2, and FMA3.
- Graphics card: verify DirectX 11.1 support and at least 4 GB of graphics memory.
- RAM: check that the system has 16 GB or more.
- Storage: make room on an SSD for the listed 150+ GB requirement, while allowing for the fact that RSI has not clarified how its separate launcher, Star Citizen, and pagefile recommendations apply to Squadron 42.
RSI publishes thresholds, not comparative hardware benchmarks. If your system falls short, these checks identify the category to investigate, but they do not establish that upgrading a particular component will produce a specific frame rate.
