Neither Spectrum nor WOW! is the best choice everywhere. The better provider is the one available at your home that offers the stronger combination of ongoing price, useful download and upload speeds, and acceptable fees and terms. Spectrum publishes several straightforward first-year prices; WOW! advertises plans starting at $30 per month, an optional $5-per-month Price Lock for Life, and symmetrical speeds on fiber plans in select locations. Check both providers at the same address and compare the full bill before switching.
Compare the advertised plans—but treat them as examples, not quotes
The figures below are provider-advertised examples current as of October 7, 2026. Availability, prices, and plan details can vary by address, so neither table column guarantees what your household will be offered. Spectrum’s plan page also notes that local availability and prices vary; WOW!’s service page says its availability, speeds, and pricing vary by location.

| Published starting offer | Internet Advantage: 100 Mbps for $30/month for one year. | Plans start at $30/month. Local pages may show tiers such as 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps, 1 Gig, and 2 Gig; availability and price depend on location. |
| Other advertised tiers | 500 Mbps for $40/month for one year; 1,000 Mbps for $60/month for one year; 2 Gig in select areas. | Check availability by address for the plans, speeds, and prices offered locally. |
| Contract and data terms | The plan comparison says no contracts and no data caps. | The service page advertises no annual contracts. The fiber page describes unlimited data; confirm terms for the specific offer. |
| Wi-Fi and equipment | Modem included. Advanced Wi-Fi is included with Gig or listed as a $10/month add-on for lower tiers. | Advertises a Wi-Fi modem and free self-install kit; optional whole-home Wi-Fi is available. |
| Price certainty | The listed prices for the named tiers are first-year offers. Ask what the recurring rate will be after that period. | Optional Price Lock for Life is advertised for an additional $5/month. Check the terms that apply to your service. |
These are not a same-address bill comparison. WOW!’s Broadband Facts information describes the monthly price as the base retail rate for standalone internet; discounts, billing choices, and add-ons can change the bill.

A provider’s presence in a state or region does not establish that it can connect a particular home. Enter the same service address on both providers’ availability pages before comparing plans. Spectrum says it serves more than 57 million homes and businesses across 41 states, but its coverage information does not replace an address-specific check.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
WOW! offers cable service and fiber in selected areas. Spectrum describes its service as fiber-powered, but much of its residential network uses hybrid fiber-coaxial infrastructure; that does not mean every Spectrum home has fiber-to-the-home. The available technology can therefore differ by address and plan.
Compare the full cost over time
Start with each plan’s monthly price, then ask what you will pay after any introductory period and which charges recur. Spectrum’s published $30, $40, and $60 monthly offers for the tiers shown above last one year. WOW!’s optional Price Lock for Life is advertised at $5 per month extra, while its base retail rate may differ from a discounted or bundled price.

- Read the service-specific terms for any price-lock option, including what the quoted price covers.
Choose speed based on use—and check upload speed
Download speed affects activities such as streaming and downloading. Upload speed matters for video calls, sending large files, and live broadcasting. Compare both figures on the offer for your address rather than choosing by download speed alone.

Neither provider’s maximum advertised speed guarantees the speed every device will receive over Wi-Fi.

Read data, contract, and Wi-Fi terms for the exact offer
Spectrum’s plan comparison states that its plans have no contracts and no data caps. WOW! advertises no annual contracts, and its fiber page describes unlimited data. Confirm that these statements apply to the precise plan and local terms you are considering rather than assuming every service type has identical conditions.
Equipment can affect the bill, but the advertised internet speed is not the same as the speed a device gets over Wi-Fi. WOW! notes that actual device speeds depend on connection type, device capability, Wi-Fi conditions, and other factors. If parts of your home have weak coverage, a compatible mesh system or access point may help; check whether the provider’s equipment is sufficient first. Adding Wi-Fi hardware does not increase the speed delivered by the internet connection.

How to decide between Spectrum and WOW!
- Check availability: Enter your exact address on both providers’ websites.
- Match the connection and speed: Compare the technology offered, download speed, and upload speed against your household’s needs.
- Compare total recurring costs: Include the post-promotion rate, equipment and Wi-Fi charges, installation, billing requirements, and any price-lock fee.
- Verify service terms: Check data, contract, and equipment details on the exact offer and its broadband label.
- Choose based on the actual offers: Favor the plan that meets your needs at the better ongoing total price—not the provider with the more appealing headline speed or starting price.
What reliability figures do—and do not—show
WOW! reports average internet network availability of 99.9% for January through March 2026. It separately reports average fiber availability of 99.99% for the same period. These are WOW!’s own figures, not a third-party comparison or a promise about service at a particular address. The overall-network and fiber figures describe different service categories, so they should not be read as a direct comparison between providers or as equivalent measurements.
