SpaceX’s Crew-13 reached the International Space Station on October 1, 2026, about 7 hours 55 minutes after launch. The Canadian Space Agency reported that elapsed time as a new record for a SpaceX vehicle. NASA had described the planned trip as approximately 7 hours 50 minutes and the fastest launch-to-docking by a U.S. spacecraft in ISS history; those are planned and post-docking figures, respectively.
How long did Crew-13 take to reach the ISS?
The four-person crew launched at 11:10 a.m. EDT (15:10 UTC) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 and Dragon spacecraft. Dragon docked at approximately 7:05 p.m. ET (23:05 UTC). The Canadian Space Agency reported 7 hours 55 minutes from launch to docking. CSA’s post-docking report gives the elapsed time; NASA’s pre-launch mission information had projected approximately 7 hours 50 minutes.
The five-minute difference reflects the distinction between a planned duration and the elapsed time reported after docking, not a conflict about whether the mission was unusually fast.
What record did the mission set?
NASA described the planned trajectory as the fastest launch-to-docking by a U.S. spacecraft in ISS history. The record is specifically about a U.S. spacecraft traveling from launch to docking at the International Space Station. CSA separately called the actual 7-hour-55-minute transit a new record for a SpaceX vehicle. Neither statement establishes that Crew-13 was the fastest spacecraft arrival at the ISS by any nation, or the fastest spaceflight overall.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why was the journey so short?
The ISS was in a favorable position relative to the launch opportunity, allowing Dragon to use a short phasing route. The duration depended on that particular alignment and orbital mechanics; it should not be treated as the routine transit time for Dragon missions. NASA’s launch-day update described the planned arrival window, while SpaceX’s Julianna Scheiman, director of NASA science and Dragon programs at SpaceX, explained the alignment to Space.com: “The space station was in an opportune spot in space, and the orbital mechanics, the physics of it all, worked out for it to be the the shortest launch to docking time we’ve had to date.” NASA’s launch-day update and Space.com’s report provide this context.
How did Dragon dock with the station?
Dragon performs its approach and docking autonomously while the crew monitors the spacecraft and can take manual control if needed. SpaceX describes an approach involving a sequence of burns followed by final docking maneuvers; after docking, the vestibule is pressurized, the hatch is opened, and the crew enters the station. See the SpaceX Crew-13 mission page for the mission’s spacecraft sequence.
